Defense Industry Booming in North Stafford, Virginia

Number of defense jobs rising in Virginia

The defense and intelligence industries are thriving in the U.S. 1 corridor in North Stafford, Virginia, where a number of companies are adding new defense jobs, reports the Free Lance-Star.

According to the news source Textron Marine & Land Systems recently leased a 2,500 square-foot facility at the Oak Hill Business Center, while Oshkosh Defense recently opened a 7,300 square-foot facility at the center.

The news provider reports that much of the defense industry growth in the area is a result of activity at the nearby Marine Corps Base Quantico and the 3,000 new BRAC jobs set to come to the area this year.

Typically, defense and intelligence jobs such as the ones heading to North Stafford, Virginia, require applicants with security clearance who have already undergone a lifestyle polygraph test and taken the other necessary measures.

In addition to the new defense jobs, a number of townhouses and a mixed-use complex are also expected to be developed in the area, the news source said.
