SAIC Awarded Department of Defense Ammunition Contract

SAIC may seek personnel with security clearance under Department of Defense contract

Virginia-based defense contractor Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) recently received an ammunition and maintenance services contract from the Department of Defense.

According to UPI, the contract has a one-year performance base period, with four additional one-year options. The maximum value of the Department of Defense contract is reportedly $21 million.

"We look forward to continuing our support of AMC and the larger Defense Department ammunition community by providing the tools necessary to achieve comprehensive ammunition asset and in-transit visibility and management services," Glenn San Giacomo, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.

Under the contract, SAIC will reportedly continue supporting the National Level Ammunition Capability operations, including the introduction of new technologies, the news source reported.

SAIC, which already employs more than 40,000 people around the world, may look to add to its workforce and seek job candidates with security clearance to fill new defense jobs resulting from the multi-million dollar contract. Obtaining such security clearance can give people access to top secret information.
