Virginia Company Plans to Create New Defense Jobs

Reston, Virginia company to fill 60 new defense jobs to accommodate expansion

Reston, Virginia-based Safety Technologies Incorporated, a manufacturer of fuel storage tanks, recently announced that it will invest $6 million to expand its corporate headquarters and construct a new manufacturing plant.

The Associated Press reports that the expansion of the Reston headquarters and the building of a new facility in Lunenburg County will lead to the creation of approximately 60 new defense jobs in the state.

According to the news source, Virginia was one of several states that competed for the new facility and provided more than $250,000 in state funds in order to appeal to the firm.

The new defense jobs will focus on developing technology that makes fuel storage tanks safe from terrorist attacks and accidents, which the company specializes in, according to the AP.

Often, defense and intelligence jobs within the government or private companies require personnel that have obtained security clearance by undergoing a lifestyle polygraph test and taking the other necessary steps.

The Virginia Business Magazine reports that 46 of the new jobs will be located at the new facility in Lunenburg County.
