Chinese Translator

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

• Strongly prefer someone who is DLI trained or similar
• TS/SCI
• Communicate effectively in English, Orally and in Writing (S&L and Writing testing)
• Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Word Processing, typing, editing and office machines
• Working knowledge of the U. S. Intelligence Community and/or military service
• Minimum Full SECRET clearance in JPAS. TS/SCI preferred
• Familiar with translation industry standards and best practices for translation either through formal training, or membership in a professional translation organization
• Possess SDL Certification for Translators LEVEL 1: understanding of the basic translation functions of SDL Trados Studio
• Solid time management and organizational skills, effectively handle multiple tasks under pressure within a fast-paced environment

TRANSLATORS:

• Demonstrate at least 5 years of translation experience
• Demonstrate translation experience in at least one specialized domain
• Possess strong online and general research skills
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree form an accredited university
• Score a minimum of ILR 3 on Source to English and English to Source translation assessment test

QUALITY CONTROL: must meet basic and translator requirement as well as the below

• Ability to rapidly assess the strengths and weaknesses of translation objectively
• 2 years of performing quality control for translations
• Demonstrate the ability to provide constructive feedback to colleagues regarding minor issues with grammar, domain specific terminology, and register.

SENIOR TRANSLATOR: must meet basic, translator, QC requirement as well as the below

• Possess advanced language skills in both English and Target language
• Formal training and/or education in translation or have at least 10 years of experience translating
