(HBB 8426) Network Systems Engineer III - Langley AFB (VA)

Location:  Hampton, VA

Clearance: TS/SCI required 

Travel: CONUS/OCONUS travel required – up to 25%


PCI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to provide EPASS Advisory and Assistance Services to the Battle Management Directorate (AFLCMC/HB) at the AF Life-Cycle Management Center (previously the Electronic Systems Center). This position will have to interface with a team of military, Government civilian, contractor project managers and FFRDC/A&AS support personnel in the day-to-day activities associated with engineering management of the Air Operation Center (AOC) 10.1 Sustainment at Langley AFB.


The successful candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge and skill in applying engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods sufficient to extend or modify theories, concepts, and assumptions; resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues; or significantly alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques; provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations; provide significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods; and execute significant projects representing an important segment of the agency’s operating programs.


The individual exercises judgment and ingenuity in evaluating the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, or applications; investigating, predicting, and anticipating issues and conditions extending beyond a single specialty area, and affecting known standards, approaches, precedents, or concepts; developing or collaborating in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or theories changing existing knowledge and extending an understanding of phenomena; assessing and carrying out strategies and actions to affirm the integrity, economy, quality, and effectiveness of engineering, or scientific programs; or advocating recommendations, strategies, and actions to reconcile or resolve novel, conflicting, or controversial issues or policies.



  • Identify, analyze, and recommend technical solutions
  • Shepherd changes to the baseline through the process from initiation to fielding
  • Provide critical information necessary to appropriately prioritize the team’s work backlog
  • Maintain contact and collaborate with 3rd Party product providers
  • Track new versions through development and independent test activities
  • Evaluate technical issues that could affect functionality or delivery schedules
  • Collect and review technical documentation
  • Participate in conferences, interchanges, and product demos
  • Complete engineering functional analysis in support of content and release decisions
  • Create and present proposed hardware/software changes to working groups and review boards
  • Participate and travel with Site Assistance Team Visits (SATV)s
  • Perform other duties as required



  • Advanced Degree (MA/MS) and 12 years of experience (5 years DoD), or BA/BS degree, and 15 years of experience (5 years DoD), or 20 years of directly related experience with proper certifications (8 DoD).
  • Security+ certification
  • at least one of:

o   Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT)

o   Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) Routing & Switching

o   Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing & Switching

o   Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing & Switching
