Oracle / Cloud Database Administrator

ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Database Administrator, to work in the metro St. Louis, MO area. At ManTech, you will help protect our national security while working on innovative projects.

The Oracle / Cloud Database Administrator is a thought leader and expert responsible for design, coordination, and maintenance for all aspects of the delivery of database solutions for an established mobility system. As an integral member of a high functioning team you will be instrumental in migration of a key transportation system to a cloud hosted environment. You will partner with the USTRANSCOM stakeholders to achieve mission priorities and provide leadership through innovation, critical thinking, collaboration and proactive risk management. The USTRANSCOM contract conducts globally integrated mobility operations, leads the broader Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise, and provides enabling capabilities in order to project and sustain the Joint Force in support of national objectives.

As the Oracle / Cloud DBA you will:

• Provide support for installation, configuration, and migration, and perform day-to-day troubleshooting and performance monitoring of Database Management Systems (DBMS) and databases.

• Monitor and tune the database environment on a regular basis to identify and remedy issues.

• Implement all relevant security patches and other directed security measures for Database Management systems (DBMSs), as well as other miscellaneous software.

• Develop, implement, and periodically test backup, recovery and restoration plans for databases.

• Perform back-up of systems, application software, Web content, and databases on a continuing basis to ensure minimal loss of capability or data in the event of a catastrophic host or facility failure.

• Maintain a DBMS restoral capability.

• Conduct and participate in regularly scheduled system testing and disaster recovery testing.

• Partner with customers to gather requirements through understanding of customer users’ data/analytics needs and challenges.

• Maintain and ensure availability for multiple production and development environments.

• Maintain security and integrity controls and formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.

• Support the implementation of all required security updates as directed by applicable STIGs and DOS ISSO policies.

• Proactively identifies and communicates issues, risks, progress to customer, contractor team, and IT stakeholders, providing options and next steps.

• Troubleshoots and supports the entire product, across all layers of the data platform.


• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active DoD issued Secret or higher Security Clearance

• Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT Level II satisfying certification

• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate is required

• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field

• 5+ years of work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support

• 5+ years of experience as a DBA (Red Hat Linux, Oracle 12g RAC)

• Technical knowledge with optimizing queries/code across large data sets

• Specific knowledge of secure coding and software development lifecycle practices

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities to include documentation and resolution database system related POA&M findings

• Experience with AWS RDS SQL Server 2012

• Experience contributing as part of an agile development team

• Provide superior customer service; possess strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills in a dynamic customer centric environment

• Highly motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Display a customer-centric attitude with a high level of energy and sense of urgency

• Strong team and collaborative orientation

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Experience with Amazon Relational Database Services would help you hit the ground running

This position does allow telecommuting so long as you live within 2 hours of Scott AFB, IL
