Job Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Shipping and Receiving Manager, you will be responsible for the movement of goods in and out of a multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations. You will need to manage the flow of goods in order to keep production running smoothly and to keep material movement as efficient as possible.
Job Duties:
- Negotiates and executes corporate level shipping agreements to take advantage of projected volume.
- Excellent team building skills as you will closely collaborate with and support several interrelated departments. We want an engaged and cohesive team handling our clients’ goods.
- Determines most efficient and cost effective method for transport of shipment from origin to destination.
- Attention to details is also a must-have in this role as material movement accuracy is critical.
- Coordinates activities in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment: Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out the position of shipment.
- Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Performs other duties as described.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Knowledge of tariff and customs laws and regulations
- Proven shipping/receiving managerial experience in a manufacturing, distribution or logistics type environment required.
- Aptitude for logistics including advanced knowledge working with Microsoft Word, Excel and using WMS and ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to be self-motivated and able to work within a fast-paced team environment
- Working familiarity with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in operations management or business preferred; and a minimum of 8-10 years related warehouse, supply chain, logistics or relative field is a definite plus.
- Shipping and Receiving: 8 years (Required)
Security Requirements:
Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with SSBI within 5 years to be considered and must obtain and maintain a polygraph. Candidates with fully adjudicated polygraphs will be given first preference.
