The Cloud Systems Subject Matter Expert (Cloud SME) is a thought leader and expert responsible for coordination, configuration, management, and maintenance of customer cloud services and environments to support a government customers advance research and development portfolio. They will be providing a full range of IT support services to customers proactively providing solutions and recommendation to improve customer experience and minimize negative user interactions and cloud services costs for capabilities they are in charge of or engage with.

The IT environment this role will support includes services from Amazon Web Services (AWS) commercial cloud capabilities as provisioned for the United States Intelligence Community.

The Cloud SME will be responsible for maintaining & executing cloud product strategy for core infrastructure services. The individual will need to be able to identify operational requirements to ensure all requirements are met for the successful selection and implementation of products and integrations.

The individual’s tasks will require implementing IT Security controls and having a deep understanding of infrastructure services in the context of a both the commercial cloud environment and its integration within a highly-secure large-scale enterprise network and make recommendations on how new cloud offerings fit in our environment.

The Cloud SME will be able to independently investigate and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. They will recommend the design and configuration of end point operating systems and system applications to maximize performance and minimize user and system downtime.

The Cloud SME is experienced in hands on configuration and delivery of AWS services like VPC, IAM, S3, EC2, ELB, RDS, and others to deliver end to end solutions for variable customer use cases.  They demonstrate a strong understanding of virtual environment administration and are able to discuss and describe functions and controls for AWS

They will have responsibilities to engage directly with mid to senior level customers as a part of requirements gathering, system status reporting, and capability discussions.  As such, they must also possess soft client engagement expertise to manage client expectations and communicate complex actions or technologies in terms and terminology accessible to the broadest customer audience.

The Cloud SME will work in a team environment and collaboration with other System administrators, networking administrators, and security professionals as a necessity.  They will need to be able to interact and communicate (in writing and verbally) with teammates, stakeholders, product owners, and executives effectively and efficiently.

Finally, they Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers,

QUALIFICATIONS - Technical Expertise:

Demonstrated skills in:

  • Configuring, managing, and maintaining AWS cloud environments for complex customer use cases in the most cost optimized manner with maximum security.  a
  • The resource should have document experience with configuration/ administration for high-availability and failover services for cloud based infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • IAM
    • VPC
    • IAM
    • S3
    • EC2
    • ELB
    • RDS
    • Cloud Formation
    • Cloud Trail
    • Cloud Watch
    • Infrastructure as Code to include Scripting and Automation
    • Service operations monitoring
    • Implement IT Security Controls
  • Oversight and manage multiple security disciplines under supervision of Government program security management

MANDATORY CERTIFICATION AND CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level II with at least 12 months prior to renewal (e.g. Security+ or CCNA Security certification) or candidates who can be compliant within 6 months of starting their position
  • Have current AWS certifications as Solutions Architect and System Admin
  • Have an active TS/SCI level security clearance based on a SSBI within the last five years. Must have a valid CI Poly

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate clearly via written and spoken English word to multiple stakeholders including peers, mid-level and senior leadership
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. climb at least a 6 ft ladder, and crawl under and behind desks under 3ft to access wiring
  • Work in a professional office environment with limited government or contractor management oversight.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 – 12 years w/High School Diploma
  • 07-09 years w/associates or technical degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 04-06 years w/Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Ten years work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support
