The MSS Division within ManTech provides healthcare IT solutions to a wide range of Defense and Veteran Affairs community customers. ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Database Administrator to work at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, MD. The Database Administrator will perform as a thought leader and expert responsible for database design, coordination, sustainment, and maintenance for a suite of systems that are instrumental in supporting the management of Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) business processes in Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), warehouses and in-field environments.

As the Database Administrator you will:

  • Provide database administration, maintenance, and support activities for structured (Oracle and/or Postgres) and unstructured (MongoDB) database technologies in a virtualized and / or cloud environment (AWS).
  • Perform site database maintenance and assist in the optimization of these databases using basic Linux commands and mtools for performance and tuning.
  • Database user and role administration
  • Perform database administration support and application configuration support for software deployment operations, build cycles, major testing activities, and other critical production operations support activities as required.
  • Routinely review and implement database STIGs and ISSO policies for the MongoDB and Oracle environments.
  • Maintain environment stability and perform backup/recovery using database-specific tools (e.g., Ops Manager, and mongo shell tools (mongodump, mongoexport, mongorestore, mongoimport)) as required
  • Work on site at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, MD

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience as a DBA using one or more of the following database technologies: Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, ElasticSearch (ELK) and HADOOP is preferred
  • 1+ years of experience specifically with MongoDB and Ops Manager in a virtual environment and / or cloud environment; preferably AWS.
  • Experience with managing and administering databases in an AWS cloud environment or professional AWS training (EC2 servers, cloud storage solutions, etc.) is preferred
  • Experience with mongo shell and writing json queries to update documents.
  • Provide superior customer service; possess strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills in a dynamic customer centric environment.
  • Highly motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while problem solving.

Security and Certification Requirements:

  • Must possess or be eligible for a DoD CAC and Tier III background investigation. Position eligible for up to Secret clearance.; US Citizenship is required
  • Must have an IAT level I (8570) certification (such as A+, CCNA Security, Network+, or SSCP)
