Senior Analytic Methodologist

Analytic Methodologists’ primary mission is to enable and accelerate the analytical adoption of AMOD, mathematical and statistical modeling, structured analysis techniques, sound appropriate scientific methods, Activity Based Intelligence (ABI), Structured Observation Management (SOM), and Object Based Production (OBP) within the analytical workforce.  Some projects may include analytic modeling for tipping and queuing additional collection of focus areas in support of the Hard Target Programs, helping analysts develop strategies for data-centric research methods, and automating existing workflows through modeling and scripting.  In addition to the base Statement of Work, these services, include but are not limited to:

  • Apply multidisciplinary mathematical and statistical models via programming language to large datasets to extract patterns, relationships and anticipatory behavioral likelihoods that may not be apparent using traditional single discipline means.
  • Enable customer satisfaction and answer intelligence questions by using knowledge of advanced analytic methodologies, and experience in implementing and executing methodologies.
  • Provide support to exploitation, intelligence analysis, and product development to include statistical and trend analysis, data manipulation and format conversion, data collection / querying from various systems, data formatting for visualization and presentation, and database design and data entry form development.
  • Interact with analysts, mission partners and other contractors on analytical functionality and exploitation and related support tools.
  • Support the assessment of new analytical tools and necessary standards to facilitate compatibility and greater efficiencies across the tools sets utilized by AOS analysts.
  • Work with minimal guidance and be fully capable of meeting most analytic methodology services without direction.
    • Government and /or contractor personnel may still perform quality control and quality assurance checks on their work, but should not find significant errors.
  • Collaborate with Government and contractor personnel in NGA and the IC in the performance of services.  Such collaboration should provide accurate technical information that contributes to synergized analysis that is better than the sum of the individual parts.
  • Regularly provide division and/or office level support.
  • Apply mathematical techniques to solve complex problems and develop quantitative based assessments.
  • Apply scientifically based approaches to help solve complex problems and issues to include: statistical data analysis, knowledge discovery, and mathematical modeling.
  • Provide database consultation, graphical data visualizations, and recommendations for quantitative data selection and collection.
  • Work rapidly in a high tempo, high-stress environment that often requires multi-tasking

Requirements

  • ACTIVE TS/SCI
  • Proficiency and at least 11 years' experience with facilitation, business process improvement, critical thinking, deductive logic, analytic modeling, geographic information systems and research design.

  • Extensive knowledge of Intelligence or defense analysis processes (e.g., targeting, collection, processing, exploitation, dissemination). Must have experience using quantitative and qualitative techniques to solve complex problems using analytic tools and techniques such as GIS, quantitative methods and data visualization, modeling, systems analysis, comparative analysis, and database development.

  • Ability to learn an intelligence problem's essential elements of information, identify sub-processes and dependencies, locate process dysfunction, develop alternative processes or analysis, share expertise with analysts and document approaches and methods for GEOINT analysis.

  • Cl Training in applied mathematics including statistics and mathematical support to provide temporal and pattern analysis, correlation of events, probability analysis, assessments of sampling, analysis of variance and error, and regression testing and analysis.

  • Programming skills in languages for modeling processes, repeatability, efficiency, knowledge capture, hypothesis testing and process automation.

  • Familiarity with the US Intelligence Community specifically GEOINT collection and exploitation.

  • Experience collaborating with all national and service intelligence agencies/centers

  • Familiarity with the GEOINT Community and associated TPED products. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Excel.

Desired skills:

  • Possess experience with all or some of the following software; RemoteView, SocetGXP; digital image/signal processing; MATLAB•, SAR Workbench tools, and TASER.

  • Ability to develop algorithms, evaluate tools, and create customized radar methodologies and products.

  • Able to work in an independent environment or as part of a virtual team.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to convey their findings via written and oral means and receive acknowledgement that it is received and understood.

  • Knowledge of standard and non-standard NGA reports including but not limited to NES remarks, NIBS, and GEOINT Notes.

  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel.

  • Knowledge of GIS applications such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS Earth ARCExplorer, Google Earth, and Microsoft Virtual Earth.

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Programming skill in Python

  • Programming skill in R

  • Programming skill in IDL/MATLAB

  • Application of interim SOM solutions such as GOWK, GERT, STARE for analysis and statistical modeling

  • Proficiency in using GEOINT services such as GovCloud, Amazon Web Services, C2S
