As a Senior Principal System Engineer, you will be responsible for providing critical systems and application infrastructure support to the Department of Defense.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team across multiple technical areas to include operations, engineering, security, and systems development.  It offers great opportunities for technical growth.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing cloud native solutions to support organization desires to transition from on-premise private virtualized to to-be-determine cloud infrastructure
  • Providing oversight, guidance, and technical leadership to a team of engineers, requirement analysts, and technical writers developing new solutions and enhancing existing services
  • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise in the creation and update of Service Design Packages describing the infrastructure
  • Assist the organization in the definition of ITIL-based IT Service Continuity Plans, Capacity Management Plans, and Availability Management Plans.
  • Designing, implementing, and documenting a vSphere VDI infrastructure in a distributed IT infrastructure
  • Provide SME-level guidance into the creation of Windows 10 desktop and server builds
  • Provide guidance and expertise delivering solutions for software deployments, over-the-wire upgrades, and enterprise patch deployment solutions
  • Assist in the generation of IT security plans, security control traceability matrices, and other cybersecurity artifacts
  • Provide design and operation support for enterprise class SAN deployments and backup infrastructures
  • Diagnosing and resolving the toughest performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to desktop support and deployments
  • Responsibility for investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel.
  • Extensive experience with across-the-wire system deployments
  • Writing implementation and design documents describing how security features are implemented
  • Participating in a Change Management processes
  • Performing requirements analysis, design, and integration for complex software application environments and collaboration infrastructures. 
  • Providing direction and guidance to less experienced systems engineers. 
  • Providing IT Systems Engineering support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Service Now, Altiris, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat, InTrust, customer line-of-business applications, and others. 
  • Other tasks to include requirements specification, performance modeling, end-to-end functional analysis, cost estimation, and joint application design.  
  • Working on project teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer's production IT environment.
  • Perform as a Scrum Master and/or Scrum Coach mentoring teams
  • Participate in Enterprise Backlog Reviews and prioritization efforts with project sponsors

Position Requirements:

  • Requires BS and 12 years work experience (additional years of work experience can replace the BS degree)
  • Requires at least 10 years of experience working in DoD classified environments with oversight of virtualization, networking, SANs, Microsoft Windows systems, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL server, and VLANs and other technologies demonstrating a wide breadth of IT systems knowledge.
  • Virtual Desktop experiences with Microsoft, Citrix, or VMware
  • Requires 2 years of experience implementing Scrum or similar project management / task management methodologies
  • Requires 10 years of experience in the development operating systems baselines and associated accreditations
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (2012 products or later) required
  • Experience implementing CI / CD pipelines for service delivery
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 3 CyberSecurity certificate, CISSP or equivalent required
  • Requires experience with JSIG Rev 3 or later
  • ITIL Foundations certification highly desired
  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification required
  • Capability to express project plans within Microsoft Project
