Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has multiple openings for Digital Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. These positions will be located in Baltimore, MD, and placement will be commensurate with qualifications.

As an IPT Lead, this individual will lead a cross-discipline engineering team typically ranging from 5-25 people responsible for delivering an Integrated Digital Product that meets all technical and quality requirements on schedule and within budget. The IPT Lead will be the primary interface with Engineering & Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance.


This position is for an Integrated Product Team (IPT) leader for the design and development of advanced digital sub-systems used in radar, electronic warfare and other sensor applications. The preferred candidate will have relevant experience as a technical contributor and the ability to perform project management oversight for the design, development and integration of digital and processing sub-systems, ASIC, FPGA and digital board designs. Responsibilities include team leadership, project planning, cost and schedule management and tracking, technology management, risk management, performance reporting, proposal development, manufacturing support, vendor selection and management, hardware specification, and aiding functional management in program staffing. This candidate will interface with program management, the engineering team and functional management in managing the engineering team. They will also be required to interface with internal and external customers and suppliers in this position. This candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills. This candidate must have a strong technical foundation, a desire to learn, and willingness to take on significant challenges.

Typical IPT Lead Responsibilities:


* Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases

* Lead technical team in the resolution of complex problems and trade studies

* Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts

* Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership

* Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts

* Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing

* Work with suppliers and be able to articulate and document project requirements

* Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned

The selected candidates will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidates are expected to be self-motivated, highly-organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or STEM-related discipline with 12+ years of experience, or Master's Degree and 9+ years of experience
  • 10+ years of related experienced in project management/IPT leadership, to include 6+ years leading a digital design team. ASIC, FPGA and/or digital board development experience and knowledge essential
  • Leadership experience should include project planning, cost and schedule management and tracking, technology management, risk management, performance reporting, proposals, manufacturing support, vendor selection and management, hardware specification, and program staffing
  • Candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain secret (or higher) level security clearance, per business requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects
  • Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Basic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, and Test process
  • Problem-solving experience in a team environment
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Active and current Top Secret government clearance a plus
  • Control type FPGA design and FPGA requirements development background
  • Some FPGA signal processing familiarity is helpful for an adjunct effort
  • Experience with advanced node ASIC technologies
  • Integration of a system containing RF hardware, digital hardware, software and firmware
  • Experience as the primary interface for subcontracted development tasks
