Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Microelectronics Product Engineer for our Advanced Technology Laboratory. The qualified candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and experienced with Front End of Line (FEOL) and Back End of Line (BEOL) device integration. Candidate will join a production team working closely with multiple ATL (Advanced Technology Lab) program and area managers to achieve on-time delivery of product supporting multiple programs. Responsibilities also include the development of BEOL integrated processes supporting several technologies including; CMOS, BiCMOS, SiGe, super conducting, and other III-V compound semiconductors.

Responsibilities include production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, quality, product specifications and yield improvements as well as coordination of failure analysis of customer returns; and optimizing product production relative to cost constraints.

The Product Engineer will interface with peers, design, product integration, and program management to resolve issues, identify and coordinate efforts to optimize device performance, improve yields, and reduce cost. He/she may also assist customers in device usage problems or customer testing of complex devices.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related technical field with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with an MS; 0 years with a PhD)
  • Understanding of semiconductor processing
  • Experience with semiconductor assembly, test and data analysis.
  • Electrical debug skills using network analyzers, curve tracers, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. US citizenship is a requirement of this.
Basic Qualifications for a level 4:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or other closely related technical field with 9 years of relevant experience (7 years with an MS; 4 years with a PhD)
  • Understanding of semiconductor processing
  • Experience with semiconductor assembly, RF test and data analysis.


Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or other relevant engineering physical science disciplines.

A strong background in semiconductor device physics.

Experience with semiconductor qualification and reliability mechanisms.

Yield enhancement or manufacturing experience including six sigma disciplines.

A thorough knowledge of Digital, Analog & RF device characterization techniques

Experience with the design and analysis of experiments using tools such as, Minitab or JMP

Experience with the integrated circuit design
