Principal/Sr. Principal Compound Semiconductor Photolithography Engineer

The Advanced Technologies group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented and motivated Compound Semiconductor Photolithography Engineer.

Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman's ground based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.

The Compound Semiconductor Photolithography Engineer should possess a strong knowledge of lithography principles and practices. Should be experienced with I-Line & DUV steppers, contact lithography, track operations, liftoff processes, image reversal, and resist chemistry. Engineer should also be familiar with a wide variety of metrology tools including CDSEM and overlay. The selected candidate should have an aptitude for data analysis, technology development and demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others and work equally well independently and as part of a team.

The Compound Semiconductor Photolithography Engineer will be responsible for:

1.all aspects of sustaining compound lithography processes including process qualifications, technician training and certification, and process safety

2.interfacing with other unit process engineers and product integration engineers to develop processes to support new products

3.writing and maintaining process documentation

4.supporting statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement efforts

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either Principal or Sr. Principal level

Basic Qualifications for Principal:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with a MS)
Hands-on knowledge and operation of lithography steppers, contact aligners, tracks, CDSEM, and overlay tools.
Direct experience with compound semiconductor manufacturing
Basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
Must be able to work independently, providing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 9+ years of relevant experience (7+ years with a MS and 4 with a PhD)

Hands-on knowledge and operation of lithography steppers, contact aligners, tracks, CDSEM, and overlay tools.

Direct experience with compound semiconductor manufacturing

Intermediate knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)

Must be able to work independently, providing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.

Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a compound semiconductor fab as a photolithography engineer

Strong understanding of semiconductor technology and photolithography principles.

Experience and knowledge of contact aligners and Canon i5+ Steppers.

Experience and knowledge of coat / develop tracks including SVG 86xx/88xx, SVG 90S, and TEL Mark V tracks.

Knowledge of resist chemistry and general resist processing, including liftoff and image reversal processes

Extensive knowledge of lithography, metrology, simulation, and analytical tools

Data analysis and visualization (JMP)

Advanced knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)

Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions

Ability and desire to assume a technical leadership role within the organization.

Active Secret clearance
