Principal Software Configuration Analyst

Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world we live in. We are seeking a Principal Software Configuration Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Buffalo, NY; an organization focused on development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Software Engineering department and will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with other developers, other engineering disciplines, and our customers.

In this position, the Principal Software Configuration Analyst will have roles and responsibilities that include, but aren't limited to the following:

  • Develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of internally developed software.
  • Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
  • Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
  • Design and implement build procedures that are used to support software product development and use.
  • Apply the appropriate Software Configuration Management standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, and display systems.
  • Process software change notices and software tracking reports.
  • Perform nightly software builds and on-demand software builds.
  • Perform software installations of configuration managed software onto various computer systems.
  • Perform backups and antivirus scan on various computer systems.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical and support personnel.
  • May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
  • May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards

BUFMSTR

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical degree plus 5 years of professional work experience as a Software Configuration Management/Software Developer. Or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical degree plus 3 years professional work experience as a Software Configuration Management/Software Developer.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Tools
  • Experience with RedHat Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience with Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience performing antivirus scans
  • Experience with computer backups
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Antivirus software, McAFee, Clam AV
  • Experience with computer backup software: TERABYTE Image For Linux
  • Experience generating software releases
  • Experience with Git/GitHub
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience with Razor
  • Experience with StarTeam
  • Experience working on Department of Defense (DOD) software configuration management efforts
  • Experience working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch
