This position supports a unique Joint Staff capability supporting the installation, integration, testing, evaluation, and synchronization of simulations and gaming tools used in future immersive training capabilities for Joint Training Exercises and Experiments. As member of the Joint Staff J7 team thiscandidate will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of Joint, Live, Virtual and Constructive (JLVC) simulation devices used for Training and Battle Staff exercise utilized by JSJ7 in support of JLVC training events.

  1. Responsible for setup, software/hardware configuration, operation, troubleshooting and analysis of modeling and simulation software and operational computer systems.

  2. Serve as simulation technical controller for JSJ7 exercises using components of the Joint Live Virtual Construction (JLVC) Federation, and/or Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS) locally or distributed to remote locations.

  3. Coordinate with simulation developers to perform simulation/model software upgrades and system performance troubleshooting/analysis as required. Provides technical support to users. Monitors system effectiveness in satisfying user's needs.

  4. Develop internal technical operating processes and manage technical operations for some of the following simulations utilized at JSJ7 Suffolk including but not limited to: the Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS), Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS), Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM), Air Force Synthetic Environment for Reconnaissance and Surveillance/Multiple Unified Simulation Environment (AFSERS/MUSE), JCATS Low Overhead Driver (JLOD), Low Overhead Training System (LOTS), or other simulations/federations as required.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college, 4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

  1. AFinal SECRET clearance (TS clearance eligible)
  2. Experience operating JTLS or JLVC simulations (JCATS, JLOD, MUSE/AFSERS, AWSIM, LOTS)
  3. Experience with REDHAT/LINUX operating system
  4. Experience with simulation operations and management
  5. Intermediate level understanding of file management structures related to simulations
  6. Willing to temporarily work 12 hours shifts running assigned simulations in support of Joint Exercises
  7. Able to effectively interact with customers
  8. Able to work in a collaborative troubleshooting environment

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bach's degree in a related field. An additional 4 yrs of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

2. Experience in programming languages: C++, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Java, MySQL, or other current programming languages.

3. Familiar with C2 systems

4. Familiar with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle

5. ComTIA Security + (CE) certification

6. Knowledge of military systems; equipment; and tactics; techniques; and procedures (TTP)
