Electronic Technician 2

Adaptive Optics Associates Xinetics (AOX), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) Business Venture, is currently seeking an Electronic Technician 2 in East Hartford, CT.

AOA-Xinetics designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy. Several potential direct and adjacent application areas also exist. The Company has substantial growth opportunities in support of many U.S. Government and NGAS business initiatives.

AOX delivers industrial photonics systems and R&D services for a variety of customers and applications. AOX excels in a range of applications from adaptive optical systems, deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors, precision actuators, to photonic systems that acquire and process data in real time for a variety of high availability applications. AOX's capabilities include lightweight passive and active hybrid CERAFORM silicon carbide optics and precision structures as well as large and small precision opto-mechanical systems supporting electronics and sophisticated controls software.

The Electronic Technician 2 will be involved with assembly and testing of complex electronic boards and sub modules which include optical and fiber optic components and opto-mechanical sub-assemblies. Primary job duties will include developing and setting up work areas to assemble and test assemblies and sub-assemblies. Additional duties may include setting up experiments using electronic, optical and mechanical test equipment and devices. Conducting tests and recording data/documentation. In addition, alignment of mechanical and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies, and machining/fabricating parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine technical functions related to the support of manufacturing activities such as testing, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models and specialized test equipment
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks
  • Perform routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications, as well as diagnose and isolate malfunctions down to component level
  • Conduct defined engineering tests, collect data as assigned, and utilize routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus
  • Electronic board testing, assembly and development
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of electronics technician experience or related technical work experience
  • US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement as applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two year Technical Degree, Technical Trade School or Military Technical School
  • Analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
