Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Automation Tester (Selenium and Cucumber) to support our Information Technology modernization program. This position is located in Woodlawn, MD.

Description of Work:

  • Develop and maintain an innovative test automation system for the organization

  • Define automated test criteria, design and develop the organization's Test Automation framework, and develop automated tests for all functionality that meets specified automation criteria

  • Work closely with the application architects to develop a solid testing solution, working towards the future state of the application architecture

  • Support complex test automation efforts using Cucumber/Selenium and Java for large Agile software projects and identify innovative solutions to solve complex test problems

  • Work collaboratively in a team-based, Agile environment, with other technical staff and business owners and subject matter experts that follow the industry standard Scrum and SAFe methodologies.

  • Assist in the training/mentoring of team members, including testers, developers, and business analysts. Implement organization-wide Quality Process initiatives to ensure Quality of deliverables.

  • Communicate automation goals, priorities, and status across the organization.

  • Define Behavior Driven Development approach and tools for Automated Testing in an Agile project.

  • Partner with Agile Release Train to plan for new functionality, resolve defects, and incorporate error injection test methodologies.


This requisition may be filled as a Principal or Senior Principal level based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for Principal position:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline and 7 years of applied work experience OR Master's degree and 5 years of work experience OR a minimum of High School/GED and 11 years of work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 2 years of experience with automation testing, developing and executing automated test scripts using Automated Testing Tools (such as Selenium, Cucumber, Quick Test Professional (QTP), Unified Functional tester (UFT), Jenkins, and/or Git Hub).

  • 1 year of hand-on experience using Selenium and Cucumber
  • 1 year of experience architecting, developing, and maintaining an innovative test automation environment including automation test framework design and development.

  • 2 years of experience with Agile development (preferably SAFe), test driven development, advanced concepts of scrum, and knowledge of agile project tools, such as VersionOne

  • 1 year of experience in analyzing metrics, identify dysfunctions, and make recommendations to senior management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior-Principal position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline and 9 years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR High School/GED and a minimum of 13 years of work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 4 years of experience with automation testing, developing and executing automated test scripts using Automated Testing Tools (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber, Quick Test Professional (QTP), Unified Functional tester (UFT), Jenkins, or Git Hub).

  • 2 years of hands-on experience using Selenium and Cucumber.
  • 2 years of experience architecting, developing, and maintaining an innovative test automation environment, including automation test framework design and development.

  • 2 years of experience with agile development (preferably SAFe), test driven development, advanced concepts of scrum, and knowledge of agile project tools, such as VersionOne2 years of experience in analyzing metrics, identify dysfunctions, and make recommendations to senior management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cloud based implementation and transition to the Cloud including virtualization.

  • Experience in analyzing metrics, identify dysfunctions, and make recommendations to senior management.

  • Strong understanding of Java/J2EE concepts, object oriented design and development

  • Demonstrable knowledge of advanced concepts of scrum, Kanban, XP, and Waterfall.

  • Good understanding of QA methodology and strong hands on' experience developing test scripts for functional, performance, and regression testing that include automated, ad-hoc, and manual testing elements.

  • Experience with source code revision control systems GIT and SVN.

  • Experience with MEAN stack.
  • Experience with DevOps techniques and tools including Maven and Jenkins.

  • Tools and technologies such as: WebSphere, RDBMS: Oracle, DB2, Java, SQL, Eclipse, RAD, Fortify, ALM/QTP, Junit, Selenium, Git, Jenkins, Gulp, Jsdoc, Gerrit, Jslint, Karma, and Jasmine, MySQL, and/or Node.js.

  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Effective team-building skills, including cross-functional team building.

  • Ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences, as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis.
