The Sunnyvale Operations team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

Guides the successful completion of major programs in a project leadership role. Performs and supports technical planning, system integration, requirements development, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Considers both business and technical needs of the program and operates as an effective project manager who integrates all necessary disciplines and specialty groups to define and balance system performance, cost, schedule, risk, and system security from concept to production.

Coordinates with Systems Engineering team's work scope to meet program requirements and objectives within defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints. Performs scheduling, forecasting and cost reporting and analysis on assigned programs. Responsible for Leading Team of Matrix'd Planners, Analysts, Schedulers, and Technical Personnel to Achieve Technical and Schedule Performance. Must Understand Risk Management, the Uncertainties of Development / Test, and be Effective and Quick to Influence / Drive Resolution to Issues in Order to Meet Program Objectives. Travel is occasional to support technical reviews, meetings, and working groups.


Additional responsibilities include
* Support of the daily execution of the program
* Conduct briefings and technical meetings for corporate management.

* Be responsible for overall program budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
* Direct and control the activities of program activities through IPT leads.
* Coordinates development and tracking of progress against integrated master schedule.
* Coordinates activities of Logistics, Production, Engineering, Test, and Supply Chain to ensure on-time and within budget delivery of mission hardware.
* Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules.

* Identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.

* Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, support, and administrative areas.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

Principal Engineer Systems

  • At least 7 years of industry experience with BS degree or at least 5 years of experience with an MS degree

  • Experience in development/management of: CONOPs, system design, system architecture, programs, proposals, and requirements

  • Ability to multi task and balance multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong commitment, collaborative approach, and demonstrated strategic big picture thinking

  • Experience in Earned Value Management System Metrics

  • Experience in Proposal Submittals

  • Experience in project management

  • Demonstrated sound decision making and good judgments

  • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and individually

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance

Sr. Principal Engineer Systems

  • At least 9 years of industry experience with BS degree or at least 7 years of experience with an MS degree or 4 Years with PhD.

  • Experience in development/management of: CONOPs, system design, system architecture, programs, proposals, and requirements

  • Ability to multi task and balance multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong commitment, collaborative approach, and demonstrated strategic big picture thinking

  • Experience in Earned Value Management System Metrics

  • Experience in Proposal Submittals

  • Experience in project management

  • Demonstrated sound decision making and good judgments

  • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and individually

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

Experience with Navy marine systems development, military, and/or related Defense systems

Working Knowledge of DoD Systems Engineering Principles and Policies

Proficient with SAP application

Proficient with IBM Rational DOORS

Current/active DoD Secret clearance or higher
