High Performance Computing Application Engineer

Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services organizationis seeking an Application Engineer to support our High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters. This role will be responsible for the design, development and stand-up of HPC clusters as well as providing technical end user support on HPC software. You will enjoy a vigorous and challenging work environment focused on excellence in a leading edge high technology arena.

This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA and will support classified area systems, at theApplication or Principal ApplicationEngineering level. (depending upon years of experience and education)



Roles and Responsibilities include:


Assist in development and enhancement of Linux parallel computing, monitoring, job processing
Provide CFD, CEM, FEA software support and troubleshooting to engineering end users
Perform regularly scheduled upgrades, maintenance, monitoring, and backup of infrastructure
Document testing and maintenance of system corrections

The successful candidate will have expert levelLinux knowledge and have significant experience and working knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, including experience with parallel programming techniques, resource sharing and scheduling, high speed networking, and parallel storage and memory technologies.

Basic Qualifications:


Application Engineering level

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM related discipline and 2 years of relevant experience; 0 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree
Active DoD Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain DoD Top Secret
Minimum of 2 years experience in Linux administration
Minimum of 1 years experience supporting High Performance Computing Clusters or other parallel computing systems

Proven experience in MPICH message passing, job queuing theory and GPGPU systems.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Principal Application Engineering level

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM related discipline and 5 years of relevantexperience; 3 years of relevant experiencewith a Master's degree
Active DoD Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain DoD Top Secret
Minimum of 5 years experience in Linux administration
Minimum of 3 years experience supporting High Performance Computing Clusters or other parallel computing systems

Proven experience in MPICH message passing, job queuing theory and GPGPU systems.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds


Preferred Qualifications:

Security+ certified, or ability to achieve within 6 months
Experience with job queuing, resource management & sharing
Experience with basic scripting languages such as Python, Perl and Matlab
Experience with HPC hardware systems, including node structures, parallel storage systems, high performance low latency network systems.

Motivated self-starter and able to work independently
