Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Database Administrator to support our Information Technology modernization program. This position is located in Durham, NC.


Description of Work:

  • Analyze the environment and make recommendations to configure Micro Focus uCMDB to integrate with Asset Manager, Service Manager and outside sources. Outside sources may include the following: SCCM, TADz, ForeScout, View/390z, TADDM and/or zOS/DLA.

  • Configure and implement MicroFocus uCMDB Discovery (UDI/UD) to handle the following:

  • - Collect hardware and software asset data on the Linux/UNIX platform.

  • - Collect utilization data on hardware and software assets on the Windows and Linux/UNIX platforms.

  • - Collect data on equipment such as routers, switches, network printers and other network equipment.

  • Integrate UDI/UD with uCMDB so that uCMDB normalizes and stores data collected by UDI/UD.Create appropriate UDI/UD Discovery and Integration Adapters including the following: Generic Database Adapters, Java Adapters, Jython and Python Adapters, Web Services Push Adapter, and/or XML Push Adapters.

  • Configure the appropriate uCMDB Application Programming Interfaces (API) per industry and Agency standards including: Data Flow Management Java API, Data Flow Management Web Service API, Java API, and/or Web Service API.

  • Configure integration between Micro Focus Service Manager and Asset Manager.

  • Develop uCMDB web services client.

  • Input and update SharePoint using various SharePoint modules.

  • Train IT Asset Management (ITAM) technicians on topics associated with the uCMDB configuration.

  • Provide electronic training documentation using Microsoft Word. Formal training manuals are not necessary.

  • Troubleshoot the uCMDB environment and its interactions with discovery sources, Service Manager and Asset Manager.

This position may be filled at either a Principal Database Administrator level or Senior Principal Database Administrator level.

Basic Qualifications - Principal Database Administrator:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree and 4 year of relevant experience, or 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 3+ years of experience implementing and configuring Universal Configuration Management Database uCMDB Discovery (UDI/UD).

  • 3+ years of experience programming, configuring SQL databases for Oracle and Microsoft; HPE; and/or Micro Focus.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

  • Possess US Citizenship or Green Card status.

Basic Qualifications Senior Principal Database Administrator:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant work experience; or Master's Degree and 8 years of relative experience, or 14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years of experience implementing and configuring Universal Configuration Management Database uCMDB Discovery (UDI/UD)

  • 5+ years of experience with programming, configuring SQL databases for Oracle and Microsoft; HPE; Micro Focus.

  • Possess US Citizenship ort Green Card status.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Micro Focus (HP) Asset Manager and Service Manager.

  • 2+ years of experience with Service Now ITSM and AM.

  • Experience with integrating UDI/UD with uCMDB so that uCMDB normalizes and stores data collected by UDI/UD.

  • Experience creating appropriate UDI/UD Discovery and Integration Adapters including but not limited to: Generic Database Adapters, Java Adapters, Jython and Python Adapters, Web Services Push Adapter, XML Push Adapters.

  • Experience configure the appropriate uCMDB Application Programming Interfaces (API) per industry standards including but not limited to: Data Flow Management Java API, Data Flow Management Web Service API, Java API, Web Service API.

  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM and Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS (TADz).
