Northrop Grumman is looking for a Software Manager for E-2/C-2 IPT in our Aerospace Sector. The selected candidate will report to the Mission Systems Design IPT Director and will support the Directors of Advanced Mission Capabilities, International, Production, Fleet Sustainment & ALMDS. Functionally, this role reports to the Director of Software for the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence in Melbourne, Florida.

The Software Manager is responsible for delivering prime mission software for the E-2 weapon system. This includes internally developed software and oversight of software embedded in prime mission equipment (sensors, radars, communication, onboard networks and mission management) developed by subcontractors and other organizations within Northrop Grumman. This role provides leadership and manages a large team of engineers from the Software Directorate (100 engineers) to ensure horizontal technical integration across the IPTs within the E-2/C-2 Enterprise.

Key Functions:

* Software Development in accordance with Sector Engineering procedures, plans staffing requirements and is the primary interface to the Software Directorate ensuring staffing needs are attained

* Provides cross-enterprise software specific technical insight into subcontractor management teams

* Ensures Giver/Receiver relationships are developed to manage interfaces across project activities; develops and maintains roadmaps for software development and architecture from advanced development through fleet support

* Leads preparation of, and approves Software technical and cost inputs for all new proposals and ECPs

* Ensures that earned value management (EVM) techniques, the Sector Integrated Management Operating Model (IMOM) and other tools are utilized to deliver predictable financial results and accept personal accountability for business goals

* Collaborate with other leads (SEIT, Avionics, Vehicle and SIT&E) in a team-oriented environment to achieve program goals.

* Ensures that technical, cost, and schedule performance measures are being met with particular focus on Key Performance Parameters and Technical Performance Measures

* Ensures that software design and development approaches: complying with Sector processes, procedures and best design/architecture approaches

* Drives reuse of design concepts from across the Sector; and meets first time engineering quality and affordability objectives

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (or higher) with 9+ years of software engineering experience, coupled with 2+ years of managing large teams
  • A strong understanding/experience in all phases of the Software Development lifecycles; in addition to developing and maintaining roadmaps for software development *
  • Experience in planning staffing requirements and earned value management (EVM) techniques
  • An active U.S. Government DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation date within 6 years is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (PAR)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Master's degree in a STEM related field and/or MBA
  • Understand NGAS Sector Engineering procedures
  • Experience in ensuring horizontal technical integration
  • Experience in cross-enterprise software-specific technical insight
  • Experience in cross-enterprise software-specific technical insight for E2
  • Experience in software subcontractor management
  • Experience with leading, preparing, review and approval of Software technical and cost inputs for proposals and ECPs (Engineering Change Proposals)
  • Experience managing interfaces across project activities using Giver/Receiver relationships
  • Experience in ensuring cooperation with System Engineering and other disciplines
  • Experience with roadmaps for software development and architecture from advanced development through fleet support of E2
  • Experience in IMOM (Sector Integrated Management Operating Model)
  • Experience in collaboration with other leads (SEIT, Avionics, Vehicle and Test) in a team-oriented environment to achieve program goals
  • Experience in the development and management of SW enterprise risks and opportunities
