The Triton Ground Segment Integrated Product Team (IPT) is looking for Sr. Principal Engineer Field to be part of a deployment team and perform hands on technical leadership during ground system installation and integration activities based out of San Diego, CA with anticipated travel CONUS and OCONUS (up to 75%).
The successful candidate will join a field engineering team supporting initial deployment, operations and maintenance of a complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication system providing voice and data services in real world operations. The candidate must be well rounded and knowledgeable in hardware and software installation, configuration management, network troubleshooting and system level acceptance testing.

What You'll get to Do:
  • The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Principal Engineer Field is to quickly develop Triton ground segment system and process knowledge by working closely with the local design and production team.
  • Will serve as the technical lead onsite during physical installs of ground segment systems for several months at a time.
  • Supporting initial deployment, operations and maintenance of a complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication system providing voice and data services in real world operations on the Triton program at various locations.
  • Will work in a diverse and complex HW and SW integration and deployment environment with an emphasis on configuration management and first time quality.
  • This environment will include working closely with several diverse Integrated Product Teams as well as providing guidance to manufacturing engineering, logistics and operations staff.
  • Will work in several of the following engineering disciplines: Test Engineering, Field Engineering, Hardware Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Software Deployment, Cyber Security, and Network Engineering.
  • Will work closely with the Military/Government customer as well as internal Northrop Grumman engineering teams
  • Will use engineering drawings for troubleshooting and use standard desktop computer and Windows based tools to produce or edit documents including drawings, plans, procedures and reports.
  • Willing to assist and develop proficiency with performance of other engineering and operational duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. OR 14 years of repair, configuration, troubleshooting and operations of network devices and computer systems experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current active SECRET security clearance.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-assignment medical examination IAW USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL PROTECTION AND INDIVIDUAL/UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time including outside the continental United States (extended travel to hazardous overseas duty locations)
  • The physical ability to easily maneuver around equipment in test labs.

  • Education/Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. within a STEM Degree field
