Join the men and women of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in meeting the largest, most complex systems challenges imaginable for government, military and business. The Air Command and Control (AC2) Operating Unit, part of the Strategic Systems Business Unit, under the Missile Defense and Protective Systems Division, is looking for a Department Manager to run its Mission Applications Department.


The AC2 Operating Unit is the leader in joint/coalition command and control systems today, and the future requires retaining current market position while expanding into new and broader C2 markets. This position will lead a Department within the AC2 Operating Unit, and be responsible for annual sales of approximately $70M and over 170 employees primarily located in Redondo Beach, CA but also several other locations around the country.


The Department Manager will report to the Director, AC2 Operating Unit. The primary customers of the department are the USAF, USN, internal NGAS, and the main focus of the department is Mission Planning software for aircraft. As the Department Manager, this position will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and ensuring the sustained growth of the department across all programs.


The Department Manager will provide oversight and leadership for program portfolio; program performance and P&L; market identification, development, and business growth. Monitoring program performance and ensuring current customer expectations are met or exceeded will be key to this position's success.


The Department Manager will ensure effective performance objectives for programs including financial objectives, contract and subcontract management, customer relationship management, and resource management. Implement, expand, and sustain Agile Software Development, CMMI, ISO-9001, and AS-9100 quality systems IAW with NGMS policies.

Basic Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree required. 10 yrs hands-on experience in general management, program management, business development and strategic capture required.

Understanding of U.S. government and DoD marketplace and experience with bidding and acquisition processes in the government sectors

Demonstrate self-initiative and have the ability to work independently

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated through ability to work in a high dynamic team environment

Experience working with senior corporate management and senior military officers and leaders

DOD Top Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:


Advanced Degree in a related discipline such as engineering or business.

15 years related experience preferred

Knowledge of Aircraft Mission and Weapon Planning Systems
