Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Scrum Master to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a servant leader for the assigned Agile software development teams and empower the team to self-organize and become high performing teams

  • Bring prior background in supporting Agile software development, specifically helping teams in writing clear user stories with acceptance criteria

  • Utilize prior experience using Agile management tools that support agile development, especially Scaled Agile (SAFe), such as JIRA, IBM RTC/CLM etc., to continuously improve and streamline the day-to-day activities

  • Work with the Agile teams and Solution Architecture Team to ensure the overall software engineering and architecture approach and guidelines are communicated in timely manner

  • Organize and facilitate SAFe ceremonies such as sprint/iteration planning, reviews, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, backlog refinements, and other ceremonies as they apply to the team and/or train

  • Track and communicate Agile metrics which may include but not limited to velocity and sprint/Program Increment (PI) progress within the SAFe framework

  • Support and communicate the Agile methodology and SAFe framework used by the program

  • Fulfill the role of the Scrum Master by leading Agile development teams in the delivery of business critical, enterprise software development projects

  • Ensure the Scrum Framework is implemented effectively by provide coaching and mentoring at the team level to maximize its benefits

  • Assist with making appropriate commitments to deliver business value through story selection, definition of tasks, and estimation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years' experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience working as a Scrum Master on a Scrum team

  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies successfully in the past as a Scrum Master

  • Previous experience with gathering metrics from Agile tools such as JIRA, CA Rally, CLM, etc

  • Experience with Agile development tools such as JIRA, CA Rally, TFS, and/or CLM

  • Experience in decomposing Agile features to user stories with clear acceptance criteria

  • Must have experience in communicating with all levels of executives

  • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite 2016, Adobe Acrobat DC, and SharePoint.

  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

  • Active Secret (or higher) clearance. (interim acceptable)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification: Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)

  • Experience with multiple Agile teams in different organizations

  • Ability to understand technical legacy systems and associated component functionalities

  • Experience in supporting in some role on a software development project building/maintaining web based software applications/systems

  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile or Agile software development environment

  • Experience with graphic design
