Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Sr. Principal DevSecOps Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative intends to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the efforts to ensure delivery of a demand model leveraging continuous everything to reduce defects while increasing productivity and time-to-market.
  • Serves as a lead liaison between Agile Development Teams and Operations to ensure smooth product releases by developing and maintaining reusable processes that cover all dependencies for automated software release cycles.
  • Establishes CI/CD pipeline guidelines, standards, and strategies and serves as a focal point for communication to ensure teams adhere to CI/CD guidelines and follow standard DevSecOps processes.
  • Performs the technical planning, configuration, integration, verification and validation of the pipeline toolchain in support of the technical complexities that lead to the successful integration of various DevSecOps practices as part of a CI/CD implementation.
  • Recommends and implements automated methods that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including scripting, integration, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • The DevSecOps Lead reports to the System Team Manager; local travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications: To qualify for consideration in this role you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM field and 9 years of experience.

  • Hands-on experience leading a DevOps/DevSecOps implementation in large programs especially migrating legacy applications, reengineering and automating systems to improve end-to-end software life cycle management by means of automation

  • In-depth technical expertise in DevSecOps techniques, continuous integration; continuous testing; and continuous deployment; trade studies and analysis of alternatives; development of end to end solution deployment across environments

  • Experience in establishing standards for build promotion and release management, and knowledge of how these competencies align with a standard branching strategy

  • Experience with the following technologies and techniques:

  • Distributed source control (Git) and establishing standard branching strategies on large programs

  • Dependency Management tools such as Maven, Gradle
  • Leading CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TFS
  • The concept of Pipeline as Code scripting technologies

  • Industry standard Static Code Analysis (SCA) tools such as SonarQube, Nexus IQ Server, Fortify

  • Hands on experience integrating SCA tools into CI/CD pipeline

  • Binary Repository tools such a Nexus Repository for pulling dependencies and publishing build artifacts (Snapshots / Releases)

  • Familiarity with open source tools for test automation such as Selenium, along with hands on experience implementing CI/CD with test automation

  • Familiarity with Containerization and hands on experience with Docker

  • Acurrent, active Secret (or higher) clearance (interim is acceptable) is required. US citizens with the ability to obtain a clearance may also be acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will receive preferential consideration:

  • Experience implementing DevSecOps for large program using Agile, preferably SAFe, development methodology

  • Experience implementing DevSecOps for a Cloud-based system on a modernization program ensuring existing applications and systems are modernized to satisfy legacy functional requirements

  • Knowledge of Cloud Service Platforms such as AWS, Azure

  • Experience with container orchestration using tools such as Docker-compose

  • Experience with Container Management Platforms such as OpenShift

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet

  • Experience with Continuous Monitoring tools such as E L/F K Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash/Fluntd, Kibana)
