The Systems Engineering team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as aStaffSystems Engineerbased out of Rolling Meadows, IL.The Staff Systems Engineer will be supporting our Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) / Electronic Warfare (EW) programs which are located at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Point Mugu, CA.

This position will perform as a technical lead for requirements development, planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk assessment, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for Electronic Attack systems with an emphasis on the design, development of radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. This includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
  • Conduct analysis whichare performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, architecture, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance.
  • Manage and develop system level requirements, design and integration for significant enhancements for a Comms Jamming Family of Systems.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Responsibilities also include functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Lead efforts to perform the derived customer requirements into system level requirements with further decomposition to subsystem, software and interface requirements.
  • Maintain a strong customer relationships by acting as a technical consultant to management and our customers.
  • Lead efforts to analyze lower level software and test requirements for adherence and traceability to system level documents.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM field with 14 years' of experience; Masters Degree in a STEM field with 12 years' experience; or a PhD in a STEM field with 9 years' experience.
  • US citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to demonstrate proven leadership capabilities in the area of Systems Engineering
  • Must have knowledge of Electronic Warfare principles
  • Ability to and demonstrated experience interacting with external organizations to collaborate on system requirements and allocation of requirements between sub-systems
  • Experience with RF component selection, RF system development, and RF test equipment
  • Experience mitigating co-site RF interference
  • Ability to work on own initiative to determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results on unusually complex technical problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
  • Experience in managing and developing system requirements in DOORS or equivalent requirements management tool

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare principles
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and related development application suite
  • Experience with RF receiver and RF jamming subsystems, and Electronic Attack systems and software defined radios.
