Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Writes, edits, and formats technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, referring to technical specifications and engineering illustrations.
Creates and updates program templates.
Maintains CDRL version control and archives deliveries.
Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
Tracks CDRL updates and conducts quality review of materials.
Provides draft delivery letters to Contracts; prepares and completes deliveries.
Creates event signage and coordinates printing.
Most assignments are complex and performed independently without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.


Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelor's degreeand at least6 years of experience
Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional technical writing tasks.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite 2016, Adobe Acrobat DC, and SharePoint.
Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

Must have a current secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearance acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Experience working in a SAFe Agile or Agile software development environment
Experience with graphic design
