Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

We are currently seeking a Program Manager to provide matrixed leadership within our Defense Products team in our Promontory, UT offices.

Role description & Responsibilities:
The Program Manager is responsible for managing development and production of Loitering Weapons System. The PM manages the programs to deliver the expected financial, applicable technology, and schedule performance. This position includes interface with VSET Leaders and has responsibility for Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost and technical execution of the program.

Job Duties: The ideal candidate will:
• Execute the Loitering Weapons System production and development programs
• Execute programs successfully by managing safety, quality, schedule and cost (P&L responsibility)
• Leverage existing programs to win new, expanded business (actively soliciting follow-on business by making timely presentations, maintaining close customer relations, and tracking customer requirements; and transitioning business opportunities to program management)
• Manage proposal preparation (to ensure it meets NGSS business strategy, is compliant, responds to customer needs, and provides a proper base for successful negotiations and program performance)
• Drive technical excellence (by setting program standards, challenging threats, balancing risk, and delivering performance)
• Oversee the development and ongoing management of a program plan and critical milestones
• Meet master program plans and schedules (identifying and assessing risks, and initiating necessary corrective action)
• Represent NGSS as a company (bringing the NGSS message to the customer; and integrating knowledge of the spectrum of NGSS capabilities with understanding of customer needs to promote NGSS)
• Service the customer (executing the program and resolving issues in accordance with business objectives, strategy, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies)
• Balance the interests of the customer, NGSS, and employees (ensuring stakeholder objectives are aligned)
• Provide overall leadership and direction to the program team (to include coaching team members, resolving conflict, reviewing performance, and initiating corrective actions, if necessary)
• Direct the performance of program functions (such as procurement, manufacturing, quality control, and logistics)
• Possess the proven ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively
• Manage suppliers and subcontractors (as would manage internal company functions). Identify/set up teaming arrangements.
• Oversee program planning and execution through applicable phases including concept, exploration, engineering development, advanced development, production, sustainment, and retirement. Continuously drive for results.

Qualifications:

Experience Requirements:
• Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of Engineering, VSET Leadership, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Process Engineering experience.
• 2 years prior program management experience.
• Experience leading corrective action teams.
• Experience interfacing with DCMA and US Government customers.
• Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 10% - 25%.
• Active DOD Secret clearance is required.

Experience Preferred:
• Experience working with energetic materials
• Extensive project management experience
• Extensive experience leading Operations and interfacing with all facets of the Promontory Value Stream Organization
• Extensive experience briefing Sr. Leadership and Customers
• Active DOD Top Secret clearance is preferred
