Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal System Test Engineer to support the Department of State, Enterprise Lab that is a part of the Software Lifecycle Management (SLM) Branch. This position supports the Enterprise Lab in the following ways; S upports the DoS critical enterprise-wide IT network infrastructure. Provide DoS and its clients and domains with support for current and evolving IT requirements in classified, unclassified and sensitive but unclassified environments.

T his position reports to the Enterprise Lab Team Lead and Northrop Grumman Line Manager. The hours are Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM located in Springfield, Virginia.



Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support software testing of all approved applications and operating systems on the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) at Department of State
  • Participate in all SOE functional, integration, regression, and acceptance testing
  • Support testing of Diplomatic Security (DS) configuration settings on SOE applications and operating systems
  • Review and validate deliverables: Software Test and Evaluation Reports, Security Implementation Reports, and other documentation
  • Support Vanguard Program line management on all DOS software modernization activities
  • Interact with Program Leadership on development of SOE roadmaps and Testing activities
  • Write test cases, test plans, maintain logs, and present results of testing to senior management in writing and orally
  • Provide evaluations of hardware and software products for possible inclusion to the Department of State (DoS) Active Directory/Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 2016 and 2019 environments (evaluations include research, test planning, testing, coordination)
  • Develop and maintain test lab infrastructure and environment
  • Install and configure operating systems on various HP and Dell server and workstation hardware
  • Setup and configure VMware virtual machines
  • Provide tier 3 support to DoS trouble tickets that are assigned by the IT Service Center to PSD/SLM
  • Support drafting lab policies, procedures and other documents that will be included in the Lab SOP
  • Perform research and trouble-shooting tasks upon request from management or DoS customers
  • Provide analysis of upcoming technologies that benefit DoS infrastructure (Hardware/Software)
  • Prepare documentation for deployment solutions and migration plans
  • Create and update operating system builds, .iso files, and images using MDT, and SCCM
  • Create and update DCM configuration Items and baselines in support of SOE-D


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Experience in a test lab environment including troubleshooting, analysis, and design
  • Operating System Deployment (OSD) in SCCM, DCM in CM Tools
  • Work in the Enterprise Lab tasked with testing and building applications and operating systems for the Standard Operating Environment for servers, workstations, cloud and mobile devices on both unclassified and classified networks
  • Support testing efforts that impact 100,000+ systems
  • Support Secure Host Baseline (SHB) testing with Microsoft Technology Adoption Program (TAP) releases to include all server and workstation platforms
  • Leverage Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to create hardened operating system builds based on approved hardware, software, and Department of State security standards for use throughout the enterprise
  • Support the testing and implementation of government-mandated security baselines (Diplomatic Security Guides, and DISA STIGs) on Department of State Operating System builds (Windows 10, and Windows Server)
  • Support a testing environment of physical and virtual Windows servers and workstation to include managing Group Policy Objects in Active Directory, configuring virtual test environments for customers in VMware vCenter, maintaining DNS and Domain Controller functionality, and patching systems
  • Support development of functional and performance testing scenarios for a wide range of applications and operating systems to improve future versions of deliverables we provide the Department
  • Provide Tier 3 support, interacting with administrators and users 250+ Foreign Posts worldwide to troubleshoot operating system builds, software defects, and security policy implementation
  • Must be a US citizen with a current active Secret clearance or higher


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Department of State IT Systems
  • Extensive knowledge/experience with Windows 10 Operating Systems
  • Experience with PowerShell, VBS, DOS batch and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
  • Ability to make presentations and conduct demos of proposed solutions
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) desired
