Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You'll Get To Do:
• Analyze, research, and develop induced environments (aerodynamic loads and shears, acoustics, and heating) during missile fly-out and flight
• Tasks may also include supporting design of heat shield and vehicle outer mold line to optimize flight performance as well as analysis of internal flows (e.g. propulsion)
• Analyses will be performed utilizing hand calculations, low fidelity tools, and or high fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) packages such as CFD++ or Fluent
• When computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses are appropriate, critical thinking skills will be required to develop an analysis capturing the appropriate fluid flow phenomenon as well as understanding the results when post processing the solution
• Analyses could include sub-sonic, supersonic, and hypersonic flow regimes as well as exo-atmospheric conditions
• Due to the complex nature of the systems analyzed, the position requires working closely with multiple engineering disciplines including but not limited to Structural Dynamics, Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering, System Engineering, and Mechanical Design to achieve program objectives in a timely manner

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
