Northrop Grumman's Space sector is looking for a Director of Programs 1, to support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) organization. This role will provide overarching leadership and management of the Training Systems Team (TST) integrated product team (IPT) in all phases of the GBSD Training System execution including: design, analysis, engineering, development, test, and delivery. The selected leader will:
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans and processes that facilitate successful execution of training for the customer to accurately and adequately reflect all required aspects of the operational weapon system.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with customer team, program product teams, key stakeholders, and key suppliers to develop and design the next generation of ICBM weapon system training.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership of the GBSD Program to meet contract schedule and drive optimal performance.
  • Conduct themselves in a timely, effective, and caring/respectful manner as part of the entire Training Systems Team and Enterprise Program.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance for providing training services and developing courseware and training device/equipment in support of GBSD Program.
  • Provides leadership and direction to all Training Team program managers, project leads/managers, and staff members, including to ensure compliance with all contractual, program, and corporate operational requirements.
  • Manages and effectively communicates Training Systems Team program tasks, risks, opportunities, and critical path to team leaders, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Delivers senior-customer level engagements, presentations and reports to executive management and program stakeholders.
  • Leads staffing actions of training program organization to effectively and efficiently address customer requirements within parameters of the NG GBSD proposal.
  • Management and oversight of major suppliers in support of Training Systems Team.
  • Leads efforts for developing/negotiating contract changes, specifications, budgets, schedules and establishes terms and conditions for GBSD training systems and training delivery approaches as EMD and Production/Deployment phases mature.
  • Identifies opportunities for new scope and develops proposals for long-term sustainment of training systems within the AFNWC, AFGSC and AETC customer communities.
  • Evaluates and enhances effectiveness of daily actions and systems; troubleshoot any potential and/or existing problems; work with appropriate individuals to put solutions into action.

• Enforcing quality and performance management and reporting actions related to all major areas of responsibility including the incorporation and execution of best practices and to minimize risks and optimize opportunities.

• Leading development and implementation of innovative business support, mentoring, partnering, and proactive planning and execution processes.

• Ensuring the resolution of inter- and intra-organizational problems in major areas of responsibility
