Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a General Manufacturing Manager 2 - 1st shift to join its Receiver Exciter Cell team within the Manufacturing Organization. This position is in Linthicum, Maryland.

What You'll get to Do:

The General Manufacturing Manager 2 is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a manufacturing environment. The Manager provides direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies.

Overall responsibilities include:
  • Driving employee efficiency.
  • Meeting product cost and schedule targets.
  • Managing the area to produce quality products.
  • Engaging employees to achieve their highest potential.
This Manager will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 25 represented (union) employees in a manufacturing environment.

The Manager is expected to work independently across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage employees to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage Operators/Finishers.

Other Responsibilities include:
  • The Manager will direct area Receiver Exciter to have operators follow processes and methodologies to produce quality hardware assemblies. The Manager will coordinate group activities to ensure proper development of products from the prototype to the production stage, utilizing latest available equipment and techniques.
  • Provide direction for employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies for with direct supervision of represented (union) employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Issues all job assignments and creates reports of any hardware discrepancies to various support group personnel in a timely manner, meeting quality and cost goals.
  • Work independently across organizations.
  • Manage the use of consumable to achieve budget target.
  • Support calibration process for equipment (POC).
  • Assign and manage R/E staff to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields.
  • Responsible for driving the team to achieve monthly delivery objectives for the cell, meeting scrap rates, reporting on training requirements.
  • Support ISO, LEAN, World class manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to document and standardize task and efforts.
  • Implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality and schedule.
  • Perform require SAP/MES transactions to manage personnel.
  • Support time input and Labor relations regarding policies and procedures.
  • validate work instruction and machine process documentation are up to date and followed
  • Ensure that equipment and work area remain in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Position is onsite supporting manufacturing processes.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 4+ years of experience; PhD with 0+ years of experience (10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • At least 1+ years of experience in management or leadership of people and/or processes.
  • At least 3+ years of manufacturing or production or engineering experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production concepts.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, industrial engineering, or other STEM area.
  • Experience with automation, manual assembly rework, wire bonding automation, antenna, or related receiver/exciter hardware.
  • Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience working in a union represented environment.
  • Experience with statistical analysis such as SPC (Statistical Process Control).
  • Experience with production control and manufacturing processes
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $102,900 USD - $154,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
