Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a talented and motivated Full Stack Developer with strong Software Engineering skills to join our team!  As a Full Stack Developer you will be responsible for designing software architectures and ensuring efficient development among team members.  The Full Stack Developer will perform targeted legacy system modernization to enable the migration of disparate programs into modern, cloud­compatible operating environments, focusing on solving  problems with legacy code baselines that prevent migration and modernization using languages.  The candidate should have a broad range of knowledge in all stages for software development with significant experience in developing applications in response to Intelligence Community & Department of Defense analysts needs. 

 

The Full Stack Developer will work as part of an agile software development team to design and rapidly prototype scalable solutions. The candidate must be self-starting, able to work well within a team environment and motivated to deliver innovative capabilities that directly impact national security.

Full Stack Developer Responsibilities

  • Modernize source code from a variety of legacy equipment and operation system environments into cloud-hosted operating  system environments
  • Refactor and update the source code from it's original programming language to compile and run correctly in the new runtime environment in the end-state software language(s)
  • Legacy system modernization will be in the following programming languages: FORTRAN, C++, Java, Python
  • Refactor, update or create user interfaces from legacy solutions into modern, web-based  solutions to improve user experience
  • Identify and replace outdated/ non-compatible support library modules as appropriate to the programming language
  • Compile and execute the code, and evaluate programmatic functionality and operations
  • Migrate the source code from various bare metal and virtualized provisioned, legacy Unix-type operating systems to cloud-provisioned, modern RHEL operating systems
  • Use Shell scripting and other automation techniques to speed routine, repetitive tasks
  • Support the customer in conducting verification and validation (V&V) testing on the refactored code to ensure the new code produces the same results and outputs as the legacy code
  • Respond to and mitigate/ remediate V&V findings made by the customer
  • Perform quality and security testing on the refactored code using SonarQube and HP Fortify tools
  • Establish a source code repository for the refactored code, and enable configuration contorl using GITLAB, Jenkins, and Redmine
  • Establish a code refactoring workflow and issue tracking within Redmine tool
  • Establish scripts and pipelines to automate testing, provisioning  and operations via Powershell, Jenkins, or other approaches as appropriate
  • Establish provisioning solutions using Pivotal Cloud Foundary (PCF), Pivotal Container Service (PKS), and Amazon Web Services provisioning/ container services as appropriate

Full Stack Developer Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • TSS/CI required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • 5-8 yrs. of related experience in:
  • FORTAN, C++, Java and Python programming languages
  • Web and user interface (GUI)  development
  • Knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Migrating code and applications from bare metal/ virtualized provisioning to cloud provisioning, to include accounting for changes in hardware configurations and behaviors
  • SAFe Agile and Scrum methodology
  • Amazon cloud environment and services
  • Development of software or services in a Cloud environment
  • Automated software development and testing
  • DevOps familiarity, with emphasis on GITLAB / GITHUB, Jenkins, Redmine, and Pivotal tool
