The Range Network Systems Engineering & Integration (RN SE&I) contract provides Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to the USSF Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC). SMC acquires services to modernize and sustain the Satellite Control Network (SCN), Launch and Test Range System (LTRS), and Space Training Acquisition Office (STAO). We are seeking a Software Engineer to support STAO activities. Duties will include:
  • Provide systems analysis, development, planning, design, and evaluation of software.
  • Perform engineering of system architectures, requirements analysis and decomposition, including system performance test and verification.
  • Perform engineering analyses to predict and define problems, define/design actionable corrective measures, and operational implementation.
  • Review and assess designs, conduct trade studies on alternative system design approaches, and advise on system development, improvement, and optimization.
  • Support the development and implementation of Command and Control (C2) and operations requirements towards an integrated aerospace C2 approach
  • Conduct full lifecycle software development including specification, coding, testing, documentation, release management, and post-production support
  • Participate or lead technical meetings and government-led studies, assess technical baselines, and ensure system modifications meet requirements

Qualifications Desired
  • Working knowledge of the Space Training Acquisition Office (STAO)
  • Masters/PHD in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance

Qualifications Required (Skills)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent and minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and background with architecture, systems and subsystem requirements, and systems engineering processes.
  • At least 2 years demonstrated experience with at least one of the following:
    • Designing service-oriented architectures, developing modeling and simulation tools, and database development and maintenance
    • Developing web/cloud front-end, middle tier, and backend applications and experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Platform One, or Open Stack
    • Developing, deploying, and integrating backend software and distributed systems for a Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipeline in a DevSecOps or agile process. Technologies may include Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Jenkins, Microservices, etc.
  • Technical skills to understand and analyze system problems, define potential solutions, and conduct in-depth technical analysis, assessments and trades and explain results of technical studies in a systems engineering context.
  • Demonstrated understanding of performance and requirements analysis techniques, and acceptance testing strategies/methodologies.
  • Demonstrated Software programming in a development environment to include one or more of the following languages: C, C++, C#, .NET, XML, PHP, Python, Ruby, JavaScript
  • Demonstrated use of integrated development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a team on larger projects.

The Aerospace Sciences and Engineering (ASE) Division is based in Cocoa Beach, Fla., with facilities and capabilities in Colorado Springs, Colo., El Segundo, Calif., and Orcutt, Calif. ASE s primary focus is aerospace engineering, cyber security and meteorological systems.

ASE is the prime contractor to the U.S. Space Force, providing Systems Engineering & Integration of the Launch Safety infrastructure, the Satellite Control Network and the Standard Space Trainer.
