Oracle Storage engineer

We are currently seeking an Oracle Storage engineer that has experience working with complex systems.  This opportunity is working at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, OH.

This opportunity is 2-4 weeks in duration and may be needed several times thoughtout the year.

The Oracle Storage engineer will perform high- and low-level technical support and will review in accordance with the best practices that are in alignment. The Engineer will provide assistance in validating current Oracle ZFSSA and M7 SAN storage configuration. In addition, the engineer will write and perform test plans that are to be approved by the NASIC Oracle team. 

Engineer Responsibilities  

The engineer shall review all Oracle ZS5 and ZS3 platforms to ensure all hardware and software configurations meet Oracle’s OEM standards and best practices. The engineer will confirm that all configurations are optimized to ensure security, speed, and redundancy. Additionally, the  Engineer will ensure the Oracle M7 SAN storage is architected and configured correctly.

  • Engineer will validate all systems are installed and configured in accordance with vendor installation, configuration, and redundancy practices. Documentation will be given to the Government. 
  • The engineer will validate all systems are current on system updates and provide that documentation in the proper format as given to the Government. 
  • Validate the proper deferred and any new hardware and software updates are applied as per Oracle. 
  • validate all pools, projects, and shares are configured correctly.
  • The engineer will also validate all protocol settings are configured properly
  • A validation of all replication configurations are configured correctly and that documentation will be provided to NASIC.  
  • validate all user mapping rules are configured correctly and add that to the documentation.
  • validate all block storage LUN’s are configured correctly and add that to the comprehensive documentation. 
  • validate NASIC is in compliance with Oracle best practices for both the storage array and server architectures.  
  • Perform analytical diagnostics and identify any problems on all ZFSSA platforms. These findings will be added to the documentation provided to NASIC.
  • validate the Oracle ZF storage is configured correctly for Oracle zpool access as per best practices outlined by the OEM. Documentation will be provided.
  • The engineer shall perform analytical diagnostics and identify any problems with the Oracle M7 as it relates to the ZF configuration. Documentation to be added. 
  • Validate the Oracle and M7 SAN configurations are correct and tuned to provide the fastest capable SAN I/O possible. This will also be added to the documentation so that it can be used in an operational capacity by NASIC at later date. 
  • validate all and M7 zpools are configured and optimized so that the peak performance of the SAN disk can be realized. The process that is created will be added to the documentation so that continuous tuning can be maintained in a future state for NASIC.
  • furnish NASIC with a written report of ZFSSA and M7 configuration and best practices discrepancies so that a living lesson’s learned document can be maintained by NASIC.
  • validate Hitachi VSPG1500 and 700 SAN based storage is configured correctly for Oracle SunOS 5.11 host zpool access so that the performance realized meets OEM defined best practices.
  • The engineer shall validate Hitachi VSPG1500, and SAN storage is sized and configured properly for the fastest Oracle database access o that the performance realized meets OEM defined best practices.
  • A report will be given to NASIC with all recommendations to fix potential issues down the road as a “Pre-Mortem” document. This will help NASIC to see possible future issues with the any OEM configurations. 

Additional Qualifications

  • shall possess TS/SCI security clearance. 
  • Oracle ZFSSA Specialist Certification
  • Additionally, will have extensive experience configuring Oracle M7 supercluster SAN attached storage.
  • The engineer will have extensive experience configuring and optimizing zpools with SAN attached storage.
  • The engineer will have Hitachi VSPG experience in configuring and performance tuning disk, LUN and parity groups for optimal Oracle SunOS 5.11 host ZFS access
  • Lastly, the engineer will have Hitachi VSPG experience in configuring and performance tuning disk, LUN and parity groups for optimal Oracle database access
