We are currently seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our client's growing team of professionals.
As a DevOps engineer on our team, you'll help streamline the software development lifecycle from requirements to monitoring in production. You'll incorporate the use of agile sprint rhythms that will be tracked and managed by the Client's lead. This role is an opportunity to gain autonomy while learning from our leadership and experts in the field. As a DevOps Software Engineer, you will be a critical member of the System Integration team. In this role, you will be building automation, improving monitoring and security, troubleshooting issues, and analyzing performance. You should be comfortable writing code, automating environments through the use of push button deployments without the need of the infrastructure team. This role will be based in Springfield, VA. (Remote during Covid)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements, prototype, architect, plan, estimate, implement or update design and implementation of product build, release, deployment and configuration
  • Develop appropriate DevOps pipeline software to include development deployment, a testing deployment, a staging deployment, and production deployment.
  • Integrate a Code Scanning tool to scan all code leveraged for deployment
  • Define and build testing plans, perform quality reviews, manage operations and triage and fix operational issues as business needs change
  • Assist in defining, creating and updating Client and quality guidelines, operation manuals, processes and standards
  • Manage product release planning life-cycle including verification of the functionality of components and services to ensure deployment meets client's expectations, integration components and security baselines
  • Build towards automated deployment processes using configuration management technology solutions
  • Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and resolve issues relating to client facing systems or services and application operation in conjunction with relevant teams to include supporting Client Services by identifying, researching and resolving performance and production issues
  • Lead the technical evaluation and selection process for improving performance, monitoring, gap analysis, predicting trends for system performance, capacity, efficiency, and reliability and recommend enhancements in order to better meet client SLAs and standards
  • Contribute to ongoing efforts to review current software stack and SDLC processes and tools, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, implementing improvements to enable scale as we grow
  • Able to quickly learn Client's current and planned capabilities, the scope of a specific implementation, integration and customization efforts, and customer's business objectives and success criteria
  • Provide feedback to fellow team members kindly and constructively, and actively seek feedback for professional improvement and growth
  • Strong ownership with a sense of urgency, and drive to launch services

Required Qualifications:

  • SCS / MSCS preferred or comparable and a MINIMUM of 4+ years of relevant software development or DevOps experience in a SaaS or Software entity
  • Excellent understanding of technical architecture and design, theories, and best practices in a broad range of deployment, management, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems
  • Hands-on experience with CM Software (Gitlab) and Code Scanning Tools (SonaQube).
  • Experience with Security policies to include LDAP and IAM
  • Scripting experience with Python, Ruby, or Bash
  • A strong grasp of automation and monitoring tools, you like to automate repeatable tasks via scripting
  • Ability to define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and to validate compliance
  • Ensure that standards and principles are adhered to and communicated to other stakeholders including customers, peer engineers, and senior leadership
  • Must be able to align with constant business changes: new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, emerging technologies and security landscape with repeatable processes in order to provide exceptional customer service to our customers
