Senior System Engineer

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for employing disciplined systems engineering processes including, but not limited to, requirements development, technical management and control, system design and architecture, integrated risk management, configuration management, and test, evaluation, verification and validation practices.
  • Update local systems and network infrastructure, including factoring long range system and network goals into requirements and specifications for elements that make up the suite of systems.
  • Configuration and deployment of software, including operating systems, platforms, and applications both client and server based.
  • Ensure new systems and software applications receive the required technical support to ensure "Authority to Operate," "Authority to Connect" and that system sustainability is not jeopardized.
  • Support end users in a tiered help desk system.
  • Review and recommend strategic investment in IT assets, to include analysis of purchase versus lease considerations, providing cost-benefit, and trade-off options.
  • Continuously monitor IT systems. 
  • Provide technical recommendations with other team members on the necessary tools and processes to maintain state-of-the-art operations.
  • Provide analysis of scalability of software, systems, and networks provided to the government in terms of resource requirements to meet evolving mission needs.
  • Review and provide infrastructure requirements to ensure that the "architectural runway" keeps pace with the Agile delivery cadence.
  • Ensure software development environments are ready for the team as needed and are not the source of potential bottlenecks.
  • Ensure requirements t span collaborative environments and any test environments (to include hardware-in-the-loop labs) that can be assimilated into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Familiarity or experience with Content Server: OpenText Content Server workflow development, input screens and reports using HTML and Ajax, Content Server API (CSAPI), Content Server OScript, JASPER, Opentext WebLingo and the User Experience (UX) elements.
  • Familiarity or experience with PegaSystems iBPMS: Pega configuration, BIX, Extensible Markup Language (XML), XML Open Gateway (XOG), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Clarity Generic Execution Language (GEL) scripts and Java. PegaSystems moving in part to a Pega Cloud environment.
  • Familiarity or experience with Oracle: Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Database Services, Oracle Access Manager Authentication Services.
  • Familiarity or experience with SharePoint: Microsoft SharePoint 2013/2017, including creating and managing sites, lists, document libraries, and workflows based on feedback from end users.
  • Support environment with several hundred virtual machines supporting thousands of remote users and approximately one hundred local users.
  • Support Virtual machine host machines (approximately 22 blade servers) located on site.
  • Support variety of laptops, tables, and other mobile devices are among the supported systems.
  • Additional primary duty involves supporting developers of the above products and working with the help desk to resolve end user and developer issues when accessing the above products.
  • A strong troubleshooting skillset will be necessary in this position as well as the ability to communicate across multiple DoD organizations to resolve issues.
  • Experience working in an environment that utilizes enterprise PKI for authentication
  • Experience implementing and maintaining DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) along with keeping pace with changing cybersecurity technical guidance from various IT vendors while maintaining security documentation for systems and networks
  • Familiarity of the migration of existing systems to the FedRAMP cloud platform.
