Responsibilities:

The Aerospace Corp. is seeking a skilled C2 Planning Engineer for our Colorado Springs location.   This individual will report to the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Engineering & Operations Department (CEOD), which provides operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems.  CEOD efforts include influencing future electronic warfare and satellite communications (SATCOM) investments; providing operational C2 expertise into future systems; providing systems engineering support for missions and C2 system development; leading system and software test planning and execution campaigns; supporting ground system and architecture modernization efforts; providing software development expertise; and, supporting traditional and non-traditional customers to ensure C3 programs have adequate levels of assuredness to maximize opportunities for operational success.    Our understanding of the operational environment helps us guide requirements development, integration, fielding, and operational readiness decisions.

This role will provide technical and programmatic support to US Space Force, US Space Command, and other organizations in the space enterprise.   This support will influence future battle management and command and control (BMC2) prototypes/systems, advanced battle management system (ABMS) architectures, joint all-domain command and control (JADC2) development, and other operational C2 concepts.   The individual will support the government in acquiring and testing next-generation capabilities by providing programmatic oversight and technical/operational expertise.   The individual will work both independently and in teams as a technical/operational authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader. The individual will lead or organize technical efforts or project teams, as required, and organize interfaces between space enterprise customers, mission partners, and Aerospace technical and management staff.

Key Functions:

• Provide C2 planning and course of action (COA) development expertise in accordance with current Joint Warfighting Concept, Adaptive Planning and Joint Targeting processes
• Utilize key artifacts, developed to guide US Space Command and US Space Force planning to inform and synchronize C2 planning
• Define metrics and measures of success for Space Force ABMS plan and on-ramp outcomes based on achievement/satisfaction of Space Force objectives and goals
• Design and advocate for optimized C2 constructs and data processes for US Space Command and US Space Force capabilities
• Support rapid prototyping strategies aligned to the CSO priorities by providing technical, operational, and risk assessments
• Work across space mission and program boundaries to ensure common program challenges and risks are identified, and appropriate teams are assembled to formulate recommendations to address challenges, risks, lessons learned, and engineering best practices
• Serve as a key technical contributor on space prototype/system readiness review teams and provide impartial technical assessments to decision authorities
• Work closely and effectively with external stakeholders including other Aerospace personnel, space enterprise offices, government personnel, other FFRDC s, and developers
• Maintain positive working relationships and customer satisfaction
• Communicate effectively with all levels of Corporate management through timely reporting of technical issues

Qualifications:

Required for BMC2 Planner:

• Bachelor s degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline from a recognized institution
• 8 or more years of relevant career experience, to include background as a space operator with Air Operations Center (AOC) experience, or equivalent (air, ground, maritime domain)
• Experience as battle manager, command and control (BMC2) operator/planner at operational or tactical level
• Experience with operating, planning, or developing BMC2 systems
• Knowledge of model-based systems engineering
• Experience operating or designing C2 software and data architectures
• Previous experience working with senior military or government customers from diverse US government organizations
• Experience managing projects between different entities and with multi-discipline teams
• Ability to work effectively with the Government customers, contractors, and Aerospace team members
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• High level of creativity, initiative, and innovation
• Ability to prioritize efforts in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Active Top-Secret SCI security clearance / SAP clearable
• Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime
• Ability to support occasional travel

Required Qualifications for Sr. BMC2 Planner

• 12 or more years of relevant career experience, to include background as a space operator with Air Operations Center (AOC) experience, or equivalent (air, ground, maritime domain); operational experience in C2 node/C2 organization at operational or tactical level of war
• All required qualifications for BMC2 Planner

Preferred:

• Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, or technical sciences from a recognized institution
• Air Force/Navy Weapons School graduate
• Joint Planning experience with a Combatant Command J3/5 or Joint Staff J3/5
• Air Battle Manager (ABM) experience in the Air Force/Navy
• Experience working with JADC2 or ABMS
• Hands-on experience with model-based systems engineering
• Experience working with the Unified Data Library (UDL)
• SAP/SAR accesses
• Experience with Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) or National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) programs
• Program office or program management experience desired
