Job Summary

The Legacy and Future Command and Control (C2) Systems directorate, part of the Command and Control (C2) Systems Subdivision within the Production Division, is responsible for assisting the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) with the development, operations and sustainment of satellite ground capabilities for the Global Positioning System (GPS), Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) and Space Based Infra-Red System (SBIRS).  

We are seeking a GPS Control Segment Software Engineer with relational and communications skills for a wide set of responsibilities, particularly providing technical and program leadership in the modernizing the GPS Next Generation Operational Control System and in furtherance of enhancements for OCX 3F software.  

What You ll Be Doing

  • Working as part of a government technical team that includes Aerospace, SE&I contractors, SETA contractors, other FFRDC personnel and development contractors  

  • Evaluating contractor software designs to ensure requirements are met, and overseeing the build, integration, assembly, and test of OCX mission software

  • Guiding software development, integration and technical assessments of OCX mission software, pipelines, and associated infrastructure

  • Supporting regression testing and platform deployments of OCX mission software on factory-located operations-like environments

  • Observing contractor software installation of discrepancy report (DR) fixes, troubleshooting anomalies, and witnessing formal system tests

  • Participating in program planning activities, providing guidance on modern software planning and progress measurement techniques, and assisting in government oversight of contractor s advancing Agile processes

  • Providing mission software and pipeline infrastructure subject matter expertise during technical interchange meetings with contractor and government team members and interacting with contractor team members to assess design, configuration management and software releases


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or  a related technical discipline

  • Minimum of eight years of  increasingly responsible relevant professional engineering experience including managing or executing refreshes on COTS software and hardware

  • Familiarity with Agile software processes including pipeline implementation tools

  • Ability to travel locally as needed

  • Currently holds a SECRET clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline

  • Experience with satellite ground system architectures or enterprise-level data center architectures

  • Extensive experience in executing Agile software development, either as developer or acquirer

  • Prior program office experience, particularly with systems engineering

  • Ability to perform advanced fault isolation/tree exercises in mixed hardware/software IT systems

Grade-Based Pay Range

(Min - Mid - Max)

$117,027 - $192,281 - $267,534
