Job Summary

The National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community (IC) and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The National Intelligence Division within NSG supports the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Policy and Capabilities (P&C) Directorate. P&C advances the integration of mission priorities and requirements across the IC to meet future challenges and opportunities in support of our Nation s security. The Aerospace team supports P&C decision making by delivering insight on the future intelligence environment with fact-based analysis on strategic issues, acquisitions, capabilities, cost, and effectiveness. Aerospace is looking for new Senior Project Engineers for our ODNI team.

What You ll Be Doing

  • Leverage your technical acumen and soft-people skills in working shoulder to shoulder with our Policy and Capabilities (P&C) customer to develop trusted-partner technical advisory relationships
  • Leverage expertise in technological advancements, mission and capability requirements, and major acquisition processes to improve executive decision making
  • Facilitate improvements in the IC mission by providing confidence that investments in new capabilities are available quickly, developed effectively, and meet user needs
  • Coordinate engagement with stakeholders across Aerospace and other IC elements
  • Reach-back to Aerospace space acquisition programs, systems architects, and other subject matter experts to form cross-functional, high-performing teams in support of our P&C customer
  • Demonstrate a motivated, positive, and success driven approach to tackle fast-pace and dynamic challenges
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant disciplines
  • 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and applicable experience in engineering or technical roles
  • Significant experience in engineering or analysis of space/ground systems and architecture assessments, advanced sensors, end-to-end systems, cyber studies, capability requirements, or cost studies
  • Be able to quickly analyze technical material and clearly and concisely summarize information both verbally and orally
  • Experience with supporting a space-related program office and facilitating reach back to obtain and coordinate technical support
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance with polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government.   U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience and deep technical knowledge of aspects of the IC requirements, acquisition processes, and relevant technologies (space/ground systems, advanced sensors, cyber, etc.)
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with other intelligence community and national security space organizations, facilitate the exchange of information and analysis, and perform research tasks to build effective assessments & recommendations.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker with the ability to think ahead and anticipate potential problems or identify patterns and make meaning out of overarching trends.
  • Successfully demonstrated organizational and communications skills (e.g., effective communication, organization, time and resource tracking, interpersonal skills, relevant knowledge)
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, government customers, Aerospace program offices, and engineering staff.
