Position Description:

NS2 Mission is seeking Specialty Engineer to support our team and project in the Sterling, VA. 

The Specialty Engineer will be responsible for applying deep domain knowledge in specialty areas of engineering in order to deliver systems that meet functional requirements and are cost-effective to manufacture, test, repair, maintain, train, operate, and dispose of. Areas range from development activities (design of interfaces, diagnostics, and modular systems) to quality and testing activities (Failure Mode Effects Analysis; Failure Reporting and Corrective Actions; hazard analysis). Responsibilities typically progress from inspection, testing, and analysis support to applying expertise in industry best practices and tools, developing new system designs, and analyzing highly complex problems.  

Position Responsibilities:

• Responsible for researching, designing, developing, and supporting systems and processes that provide for the efficient and effective production of complex products or solutions.  
• Develop systems that are suitable for the cognitive, physical, and sensory abilities of the intended users, and develops systems that improve survivability.
• Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of equipment, operations, and workflow within a production facility or to determine how product or solution characteristics contribute to effective and efficient manufacturing techniques.  
• Evaluate cost factors and recommends methods for economic utilization of production facilities and personnel.  
• Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects Including: logistics (RMA), quality engineering, and manufacturing engineering.
• Assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions
• Works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
• May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
• Initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs.
• Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff.
• Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for mission critical challenges/issues.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Years of experience desired for Specialty Engineer:Specialty engineering / design suitability experience applying principles and practices desired.
• 7 years of experience required

• Experience with industry technical/design standards.
• Experience in testing large scale systems.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and present technical data and analysis results.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Navy SSEE experience desired.

Position Clearance Requirement:

 TS/SCI
