SPA seeks a passionate and dedicated professional with a demonstrated record of success in dynamic environments to support operations research, military utility assessment, and other quantitative analyses for a range of customers. The individual will work as part of a cross-functional, high-performance team to develop and execute repeatable, data-driven methodologies to identify and diagnose strategic, operational, and tactical asymmetries and assess proposed capability solutions across a broad range of missions, domains, adversaries, and timeframes. This work will integrate information from the operations, intelligence, and technology communities to inform government customers of critical issues impacting their portfolios across the tactical, operation, and strategic continuum. Candidates will support Modeling and Simulation (M&S) efforts to provide quantitative assessment of proposed capability solutions within an operational context. Candidates can expect to interact with stakeholders from across the Defense community to include the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff, DoD Agencies, FFRDC/UARCs, Industry, Combatant Commands, and the Services. Successful candidates will quickly be rewarded with leadership opportunities and direct engagement with clients.

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, operations research, statistics, computer science, engineering, management science or physics with at least three years of experience analyzing system solutions to complex and challenging DoD problems
  • Experience taking military operational challenges and defining technical approaches using statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other methods to analyze problems and assess practical solutions
  • Experience developing and executing analysis and study plans that address complex problems, examine trade-offs and sensitivities, and produce information-rich products and artifacts using appropriate analytic techniques including Design of Experiment processes and the use of stochastic modeling and simulation methods (including Monte Carlo)
  • Experience with one or more of the following modeling and simulation environments: Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM); Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM); Global Positioning System (GPS) Interference and Navigation Tool (GIANT); Freeflyer; One Semi-Automated Forces (OneSAF); Next Generation Threat System (NGTS); Builder; QGIS; ArcGIS; Command Professional Edition
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with ability to attain DoD Top Secret security clearance

Desired

  • Master's Degree in mathematics/statistics, operations research, computer science, engineering, management science, or physics
  • Software development/programming interest and experience in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Microsoft Office 365, C++/C#, Visual Studio.NET, MATLAB, Python, R, or SQL development and code management techniques using (Git, Bitbucket, etc) and agile software development practices/tools (Jira, Confluence, etc) including DevSecOps.
