Responsibilities

This position is responsible for interfacing with both customer personnel and the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contractor for the satellite mission ground system.  The candidate will possess knowledge of space communications domain architectures and corresponding ground systems, and must have experience interfacing between the Customer and a development or O&M contractor. Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts. Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

 

The successful candidate must bring a working knowledge of the programs supported within the Cross Creek program. The candidate will also coordinate with users of the services to ensure they are kept appraised of any changes which impact their utilization of the system. The candidate must be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously.

 

This position is responsible for technical/operational leadership of a project/mission or group of projects/missions within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Participate in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation
  • Review test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participate in planning/execution of the operational readiness testing process to validate requirements
  • Review contractor CDRLs and provide acceptance recommendations to the Customer
  • Assess system performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures, and provide updates to the Customer on the operational status of the system
  • Maintain Charter for users’ group and support planning and coordination of the annual users’ conference
  • Develop RFCs to update program documents and brief at engineering review boards as required
  • Maintain and ensure contractor compliance with the program Configuration Management Plan

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5 - 7 yrs of experience, or a Master's and 3 to 5 yrs of experience.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active TS/SCI Clearance with Poly
  • Experience with supporting satellite communication missions and their corresponding ground systems
  • Experience providing oversight of O&M / development contractor performance
  • Knowledge of system engineering processes
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
