General Description:

Provides feedback to design engineers and evaluates end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Working as expert, conducts research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems. Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods. Verifies/validates systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information networks. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Prepares assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and analysis. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they verify/validate the requirements. Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing requirements. Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government intelligence and operations officials.


Specific Description:

Seeking a strong cyber security engineer or information security systems engineer (ISSE) to assist OA in establishing, coordinating, and maintaining our cloud service provider (CSP) cyber security posture and perform risk analysis within a new division of Cloud Security.

Over the next 1-3 years, Cloud Security is positioned to evolve how cloud security technologies will be adopted and deployed across the Intelligence Community. Cloud Security manages security assessment, security compliance, change management, and continuous monitoring responsibilities across 5 cloud service providers.

The position requires a healthy mix of technical and policy knowledge. An excellent candidate shall understand and have experience implementing services to intelligence community standards like ICD 503, NIST Risk Management Framework, and cloud technologies.

Finally, the OA requires an individual with multiple years' experience (minimum 5 years, 16 years is strongly desired) in cybersecurity with a passion to learn in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills are required to engage with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders across intelligence community.

  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
  • Self-starter mentality
  • Ability to lead technical exchange meetings with cloud service provider to review cloud service architecture
  • Experience with maintaining assessment and authorization packages across multiple services or systems in accordance with FIPS-199, and NIST 800-53, CNSS 1253 requirements
  • Familiar with Amazon Web Services, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Microsoft Azure cloud architecture or willingness to study independently to pick up expertise in one or many cloud vendors.
  • Familiar with cross domain technology and common architecture designs
  • Educate cloud service provider on TEMs to consult project teams on system architecture and security posture
  • Familiar with continuous monitoring requirements to include scan analysis for critical or high findings with common scan tools (e.g. Rapid 7, Nessus, Qualys)
  • Experience with creating, monitoring, and closing system or service Plans Actions and Milestone items {POA&Ms)
  • Experience with utilizing compliance tools to track assessment and authorization activities (e.g. Xacta 360, Risk Vision, RSA Archer)
  • Knowledge of common control provider concept within NIST Risk Management Framework
  • Familiar with security control assessments to include working with SCAs and preparing security packages for SCAs
  • BS 12-15, MS 10-13. Phd 10+
