Responsibilities

Applies technical knowledge to assist clients in the design and development of solutions to complex technical engineering and applications problems, network challenges, or system administration issues. Establishes the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework. Incorporates engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination. Performs cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components. Applies knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture. May participate in business development activities.

 

Customer seeks an experienced Systems Architect skilled in network design/engineering and administration to support their research and development organization and advanced data exploitation.  The Systems Architect implements baseline changes and responds to change requests; performs technical evaluations, analyses, and troubleshooting for all supported servers; builds servers by providing technical configuration, setup, installation services, hardware and coordination of application projects; and operates and maintains servers.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain the Windows Server Active Directory and domain infrastructure on a development LAN
  • Maintain Microsoft System Center environment, including Configuration Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, and Data Protection Manager
  • Maintain patch levels, virus definitions, and software updates for all internal servers, workstations, and network switches
  • Maintain Linux servers and workstations baseline configurations
  • Resolve system vulnerabilities as discovered via scanning or in response to security data calls
  • Support multiple hardware and software project development teams from startup to transition to operations
  • Support the security documentation for all projects in regard to system configuration and operations
  • Maintain Exchange Server environment to support intra-office emails on the development LAN
  • Maintain Skype Server environment to support collaboration tools used by developers on the development LAN
  • Maintain the 3Par and HP storage fabric that provide encrypted storage for data and VM hosting
  • Actively participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), as necessary
  • Provide tablet project support including disk imaging of tablets, testing software builds, network configuration to support tablet-to-tablet communication without network switching
  • Submit access requests, as needed, for personnel accesses and changes
  • Interact with Security for project waivers and approvals for hardware and software not currently included in the approved baseline
  • Create and/or update asset management records to ensure the integrity of the organization's records
  • Maintain professional and safe server room environment
  • Assist in special projects, including occasional extended work hours to support mission needs
  • Communicate outages/degradation of server to management
  • Perform data transfers between networks, as needed, to support developers' needs and systems maintenance
  • Mange NVIDIA/CUDA server configurations

Qualifications





  • BS with 8-10 years' experience, MS with 6-8 years' experience, or PhD with 3-5 years' experience
  • Active TS/SCI w/ FS Poly
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a dynamic, technical environment with all levels of personnel
  • Detailed knowledge of cutting-edge technology
  • Experience working with:
    • Windows baseline management using Microsoft System Center (VMM, DPM, MECM)
    • Linux deployment and baseline management via Foreman
    • Microsoft Exchange Server and Skype for Business Server
    • SQL Server, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL database administration
    • Hyper-V, QEMU/LibVirt, and VMware vSphere Virtualization
    • Windows Server 2019 Data Center and Failover Clustering for High-Availability File Servers and Virtualization
    • RedHat/CentOS 7.x and 8.x distributions
    • 3Par Storage Systems
    • Cisco ACI Servers and Switching/Cisco Nexus Switches
    • HP BladeCenters with Virtual Connect Networking, HP DL Series servers, and HP Z-series workstations

  • Knowledge of or background in software development
