HOW A SR SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

This position supports the Geospatial Services & Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer. As part of the GSS Team the Sr System Engineer's expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise environment.

The Sr Systems Engineer is an active participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings. The Sr System Engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying custom solutions to the customer's enterprise environment.

The Senior Systems Engineer designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems. This includes the coordination of system development to include design, product/solution analysis, and integration to deliver a solution that meets current needs while maintaining flexibility for future changes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects
• Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems
• Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology
• Coaches, provide guidance, and unblocks less-experienced professionals in their tasks
• Determine the functionality of an application and performs upgrades over time
• Works with the team to plan future sprints, define stories and estimate efforts
• Prepares and produces releases of software components
• May serve as a team or task lead

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of related software development experience

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other business-related field
• Expert in Python language (or similar)
• Strong experience building and working with container images (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps and software/application development processes
• Experience deploying to RedHat Openshift Container Platform
• Experience writing infrastructure as code (Helm/Terraform)
• Experience with utilizing CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
• Experience with deploying to on prem/data center infrastructure
• Experience using Jira and Confluence on a daily basis
• Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team

Desired

• Experience with ElasticSearch, GoLang
• Experience with GraphDBs (Neo4j/RedisGraph)
• Experience with Messaging Systems (NATS Jetstream/Pulsar)
