AAI Test & Training to Provide Universal Test Sets to Navy

AAI Test & Training wins Navy contract, may create intelligence jobs

AAI Test & Training could soon seek professionals with security clearance after the company was recently awarded a contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, Maryland.

According to a release, the operating unit of Textron Systems said it will provide Universal Test Sets (UTS), which are designed to perform a number of functions for warfighters. Principally, the battery-powered test sets can verify counter-RCIED (radio-controlled improvised explosive device) electronic warfare, or CREW, equipment, the release notes.

"IEDs remain a critical threat to our troops, and their CREW equipment can only be effective when it is fully operational," AAI Test & Training Senior Vice President and General Manager Robert Peters, said in the release. "Our UTS provides reliable, repeatable field verification of CREW equipment so warfighters can conduct their missions with confidence."

The systems are reportedly used by the Air Force, Army and Marine Corps, in addition to the Navy, according to the release.

The potential addition of defense and intelligence jobs resulting from this new contract could lead to an increased demand for individuals with security clearance.
