URS Awarded Naval Intelligence Contract

Naval intelligence contract may increase intelligence jobs at URS

San Francisco, California-based URS Corporation has announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana.

According to a release from the company, URS will support U.S. Marine Corps aviation Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems under the contract.

With a one-year base term and an additional one-year option that could bring the value to $42.9 million, the contract could spur the creation of defense and intelligence jobs to help complete the work.

President of federal services for URS Randall A. Wotring noted that the contract award was significant in building on its contact with both the Navy and Marine Corps.

"We are honored by this contract award which allows us to expand our relationship with both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps," Wotring said in a statement. "We look forward to supporting the readiness of their valuable C4ISR assets."

New defense jobs that could be added by URS would likely require individuals who have undergone a lifestyle polygraph test and obtained security clearance.
