American Conference Institute Summit to Include NISPOM Information

American Conference Institute to discuss security clearance, NISPOM

The American Conference Institute's National Summit on Industrial Security Compliance from July 11-12 in Washington D.C. will reportedly address a number of issues including NISPOM requirements regarding maintaining one's security clearance.

According to a release from the Institute, officials from the Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Defense Security Service are expected to speak at the event.

Security executives from a variety of private contractors including Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, SAIC and MITRE will also be on hand, the release said.

NISPOM, the operating manual for the National Industrial Security Program, is a crucial document because it lays out the requirements for government contractors regarding intelligence, classified information and security clearance.

The conference is expected to address keeping one's security clearance updated, which is critical for anyone looking to apply for defense and intelligence jobs within the government or with private companies in the future. Often, depending on the type of security clearance obtained, people must undergo a lifestyle polygraph and re-investigations to remain cleared.
